Beater bar Belt Removal from Upright Electrolux...
Posted by wrenn on Jul 14, 2008
I am trying to change the belt on an Electrolux Model 1717 Upright Vacuum and I am having difficulty disassembling the vacuum to remove the beater bar and belt.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. . Normally there are screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or if that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt. Once that is off and the belt is exposed then cut off the old belt and then lift up the brushroll on the pulley end and install the new belt around the pulley end and re-install the brushroll. Then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bent right or left end to stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line and reverse you steps in the reinstall of the top cover or bottom plate. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Electrolux UltraSilencer ZUS3962 Power OK but motor doesn't turn

I can't find a pares schematic for it. We are in North America and Google leads me to believe it is a model for New Zealand? Go to where you bought the motor and see if it lists a Thermal Fuse?

Electrolux Velocity pet lover 1800W Drive belts keep on breaking...

Dear Judy, there are several things that can cause the problem you are having but I can give you a few things to look at. First is that you are getting the correct belt for your machine. Second is the motor and brush roll moving freely after you install a new belt & before you start vacuuming?. Third is the machine set at it's lowest setting(try a higher setting to start) finally is the belt an after-market made in china one. Quality in Chinese rubber products can suck at times. If all this is ok than it maybe best to take to your local vacuum repair shop. Good Luck-Jack of all trades bob

Should the brushes revolve something got caught on the brushes when vacuuming up

Yes, the brushes (beater bar) should revolve. Even though the brush is spinning, you probably need to replace the belt2_bing.gif because it is stretched. It is probably slipping on the beater bar..

I have a velocity pet lover 1900 only 2 months old

You have broken the rubber belt that drives the brush. Flip over and remove the old belt and replace it with a new one.

I replaced the belt on my eureka 4870 vac and set it for carpet, but the brush will not turn?

Check that you have put the seal caps at the end of each brush roll side properly - it fits in usually with the arrows down the way, or if there is a triangular "angle" sitting, its how the caps fit into the sides - sometimes Electrolux/Eureka models have different caps on either side of the brush that need to be aligned properly as well as ensuring that the brush belt is on. Also check that the brush bar is completely clean. Hope that helps you!

Hello. I have an electrolux glider upright bagless vacuum cleaner (UK model) who's brushes do not rotate any more. I'm guessing that I need to replace the drive belt but I have no idea where to start. I...

Hello! There are two solutions to this as the Glider model you speak of could be the more old fashioned type where screws on the bottom foot plate (ie where the spinning brush sits) have to be undone in order to get to the drive belt.

However if you have blue/red/Harmony Glider type model, the drive belt location is on the top of the hood where the floor selector is. There are three screws to undo here; one sits just underneath the main hose to the left hand side of the machine (and can be tricky to take out) if looking at the machine from the front, whilst right at the front of the machine, you'll see two other cross head screws which need to be undone. Make sure that the rotary height dial is out of the way - the top hood should then pop open revealing the brush. Then just take out brush by grabbing the beater bar and pull upwards gently. Take off the old belt, put on a new one around the spindle motor and then onto the beater bar and push the brush roll back in.

Unfortunately you may need brute strength for this as a new belt is often tensioned.

Dont forget to rate. Thanks.
