2001 PT Cruiser rear wiper stops in the wrong position

My rear wiper stops in the wrong position. It wipes fine, not slowly, but always stops in a random location, usually, several inches up from its normal stop position.

Also check for looseness of wiper motor linkages.

Try to open the wiper motor gear section only, maybe the wiper parking contacts need a little cleaning. Check also for possible cracks on gear.

SOURCE: rear wiper hangs loose, wont wipe

Sounds like the spring has broken in the wiper arm. If you pull the cover off of the base of the wiper arm there will be a screw. Remove the screw and pull straight out on the base of the arm. That will release it from the actuator. You should be able to pick one up at a parts house for about $20 to $40 dollars or you could shop a salvage yard for about $10. Hope this helps. Good luck. Please re-post with updates. Thanks cj2176.

SOURCE: whindshield wipers stuck in a vertical position

This is an easy fix. Likely ice got on your windshield and froze your wipers to the glass then when turned on moved out of position. Take the cover off the base of the wipers and loosen the bolts. Put them down all the way and tighten. When wipers are turned on when frozen to glass the gears want to move but cant and loosens at the base. Please let me know if this does not help and will look into it further but this is probably it. Thanks

SOURCE: front windshield wipers stall or work very intermittantly when on

It is likely that where the wiper arm is attached to the linkage  it is either loose or stripped.

SOURCE: 2006 PT Cruiser Wipers Don't work

I had the same problem. It was the wiper computer module according to the dealership. Fortunately it was covered under extended warranty and cost $100 deductible.

Battery slowly goes dead on my 2001 pt cruiser

You will need to take it to the shop find the drain. Something running that has constant power most generally its the radio but they have ways of finding power drains at the shops not in about an hour. You can always do it the old way need 2 people. 1 to pull 1 fuse at a time while the other has the positive cable disconnected. As the fuse puller pulls each fuse the battery person places the terminal about 1/8 inch from post see if theres still an ark. This has be done in the dark of course to see the tiny ark the drain will cause. But thats the backyard mechanic way of finding a drain. When you have no ark anymore look see what that last fuse was running on the fuse box.

My 2006 PT Cruiser rear wiper does not work. The motor tests okay. The rear washer works. The wiper is not getting power.

It may be related to TSB 08-027-06 which calls for a TIPM software update. The TIPM module is part of what controls the rear wiper. You will be stuck going to a dealer to have the software update performed though.

I HAVE A 2006 PT CRUISER THE REAR WIPER JUST STOPPED WORKING

The wiper motor may have gave out its located in the rear hatch interior panel. Although your problem could simple be that the fuse has blown and do need to replace it. Generaly the fuse panel is located directly under the dash panel and some times in the glove box. The only other promlem whould have to reside id a bad wiring conection simply use a voltage meter to check continuity.
