WMP(Windows Media Player) is a popular player developed by Microsoft company, but actually it cannot play all file types. For example, it fails to support h.264, h.265 (popular video codecs on YouTube), dvd media, iso, vob, vcd (windows media player doesn't play DVD), mkv (attatched support on Windows 10), rmvb, rm, swf, webm, etc. So you may run into troubles when playing such non-supported files with Windows Media Player. That's why you need a codec pack for Windows Media Player

By default, Windows does not include a DVD decoder (which is what you need to watch DVDs).
If you are using WMP10: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx
If you are using WMP11:
http://savvybytes.com/2006/10/02/playing-dvds-with-windows-media-player-11/

Install the codec and you will be able to watch DVDs!

I can,t the run movies in my 5315 pc, what is the problem?...

You Need a movie playing software to be able to play movie on your system. You have to download and install a movie software to play your movie. Also note the format on which the Movie is made and download the player that can play that format.

Best of Lucks.

I cannot play dvd's with power dvd dx-display output error

Try going to the Dell webpage to see if there are any updates for the software. It should be found under the support for my system link. Reason I say Dell rather than Cyberlink website is that Dell uses a "special" version bundled in their systems. There is probably an update required or it is missing the proper codecs to run. Hope this helps.

Cannot upload or play dvd with error report

Reinstall your windows player then you need to install the codecs to be able to read other formats here's one of the most complete packs of codecs. if you have doubts try this, install VLC player if the movies work on that player then your problem with the WMP will be the codecs. Make sure you install the full version.

VIDEO FILES OF CANON SX10 IS NOT PLAYING IN WMP

H264 is a "mov." file. Windows media player11 and Power DVD 9 do not support this type of file. If you don't like QuickTime, there are many free media players that will support it (VLC is a good one). You could convert the mov. file to an avi. file with a video converter program. Then your avi. format movie will play in WMP

Model ndrv-61 nec dvd recorder. having problems playing dvd's wev'e played previously comes up as disc unrecognised. We have reset to factory settings nothing has helped.

I have had similar problems and now I produce all new DVD's in DVD-R format and they are recognised. Any DVD+R will continue to deliver the same "unrecognised" disc error.
