I used the same fuel in another weed eater, and it runs fine. I replaced the carb, fuel lines and filter. Also changed the spark plug. No change to the problem. Tom
Check for a cable disconnected at the trigger
if you can move the throttle lever on the carby and it makes no difference then there is still a problem in the main jet of the carby
thanks for the idea, but moving the throttle on the carb makes no difference. Also verified the throttle on top of carb moves when pressing and releasing the trigger.
can you comment on the make and model of the carby
does it have a butterfly or rotating valve as a butterfly
The indications are that the main jet is partially blocked

SOURCE: ECHO 2000 WEED EATER I changed the fuel line,
You may need the carburetor adjusted or rebuilt. The other possible item is "bad gas". If the gas has been sitting around longer than 30 days, it may be time to mix up some fresh fuel mixture.

Good Day.

If everything is new than something is out of adjustment. Try readjusting high RPM needle valve if it has one. Go to smalleng.com and look for tutorial or you tube has a lot of interesting tutorials on this kind of thing. Good Luck...
SOURCE: stihl weed eater runs 2min. then stop
Stihl weedeater was running and stopped suddenly. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaner air filter with soap and water. Checked spark plug and it appeared fine. Started the weedeater, ran for a second or so and stopped. Spark plug wasn't gas fouled. Could it be the carburetor needing new diaphram gasket and spring.
