Frozen When I turn on my Canon PowerShot A560 it automatically zooms out to 16x and then remains frozen. None of the buttons work. I can toggle over to look at the last picture taken, but can't scroll through all the pictures.

You have a stuck zoom switch. The fix will require opening the camera, see the following link. This detailed fix is courtesy xscrewdriver (nice job xs).

Windows updates changes the registry and sometimes causes our "toys" to stop working. You can contact Microsoft and get instructions to re-write your registry(very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing) or, you can do what the pros do to avoid this very common problem....get a card reader! typrice_40.jpg

My Canon A590 is stuck in 16x zoom (which it isn't supposed to have?). It powers on and off but it unresponsive to the other buttons. No more warranty.

Buy a new one. I am still trying to figure it out. If I pull on the lens a bit, when I restart, I get a normal view for one second and then zooms to 16x. It's a bummer, I love this camera. I used the macro a lot and noticed I was having trouble getting a clear focus before it did this.

My canon powershot a1000 IS is frozen

Short answer no, all digital cameras have a reset in the menu and some have an external reset switch. Chances are your camera has an internal error.

Take the camera about 6 inches away from the card. Use P mode on all automatic settings, but use the MF flash (press the close-up tulip twice, on the bottom of the navigation wheel), set to 15 cm (use left and right buttons to adjust). Try putting the camera on a mini tripod and the card in a holder to minimize camera shake. Also, ensure that the optical image stabilizer is on. When viewing the taken picture on the camera, zoom in as you would when taking the picture to see the picture at full resolution.
