Well...technically you cannot 'eliminate' your Verizon eMail account as that is how Verizon 'recognizes' you as a customer on their site. You have to use that to log into your Verizon account to pay your bill or change your services...etc.
That said, you do not have to keep logging-in to LOOK at your mail. If you are using a pop3 mail-client, (like Outlook, or Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail,) then there ARE steps you should do to 'remove' that account from whichever client you have...or they can be set to keep the mail they have so-far, but not to download any more from that account, it depends on the client, and what your preferences are.
If you only look at your mail using a web-browser and going to verizon's website, then again, you would just stop doing that.
If you use a touch pad place the cursor over the list of emails and then place your two middle fingers in the middle of the touch pad, swipe up the touch pad. If you use the mouse do the same except you can use one or two fingers to swipe up.
Tap the 'settings' app, navigate to 'Mail, Contacts, Calender' option, the then select the email address and delete / remove it, Now add a new Email address - make sure you add correct Email address this time ! :)
Try holding down button at top to turn iPad completely until Apple logo appears on screen. That's a complete shut down. Leave off for two minutes, turn back on. If still not able to download email, contact Apple. Sometimes it's Yahoo or other provider that's holding up the works. If case, Yahoo might suggest creating new account. See if total iPad shut down works first. Jimmy
