SOURCE: my portable dvd player shows no disc when i put my dvd in player
Hi....
Very lightly clean the laser lens ( looks like a very small eyepiece)
with 91% or better alcohol on a swab. Then very lightly dry it off.
Also..have you tried another DVD or CD in it?
Check for dust or debris in where the laser pickup is

If you still have use of the on screen menu functions, you can try using the restore to factory setting option in the preferences section of the set-up menu. Press the setup button on the remote control and use the up and down arrows to find and highlight the preferences section, press ok to enter the sub-menu.In the sub-menu use the up and down arrows to find and highlight the default option. Press ok. This will reset the dvd player to the factory settings. If you do not have the use of the on screen menu, you can use the a/v outputs to a external monitor or television to perform the abouve procedure to try to restore the dvd player to normal operation. If all this fails you can call Phillips customer support at this telephone number. 1-888-744-5477 They will be able to help you, either solve your problem or get the dvd player serviced.I hope this information helps you with your problem.
SOURCE: INeed av cable for Trutech 7? Dual-Screen Portable DVD Player
Okay, I just had to replace both the DC power and a/v cable for this Trutech DVD player and here is the solution. The a/v cable is a 4 pole 3.5mm cable, which I found here: http://www.techcables.com/6-ft-3-5mm-4-pole-mini-av-to-mini-av-camcorder-a-v-cable-p-36.html I went to Radio Shack and bought the coax style DC power plug ends which were size B and soldered new ends onto the old power cable, tip to tip, sleeve to sleeve: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102598
