SOURCE: Wi-fi

you may not be able to join these networks as these networks are from your neighbourhood who have protected them by passwords. you may try 12345 as somebody might have kept this default password. But again you can not access networks protected by passwords unless you know it.
you may ask your friend or neighbour who can share his net with you.

SOURCE: iPhone Wi-Fi only works when it's really close to my home's router...

Sounds like there is a problem with the WiFi card in your phone, take it back to an Apple store, all Apple stores have a WiFi open network so you can show a Mac Specialist the problem, my thinking is if it doesn't connect at home then it wont connect to there network. If your phone doesn't work in the store ask to speak to the manager or assistant manager, be persistent and insistent if your iPhone is not hacked they will change it but you have to fight your corner.

SOURCE: Re: IPhone doesn't connect with wifi automatically - password not recoginized HELP!!!

Had this problem for a couple of days now, and finally cracked it!

Bear with me through explanation, as I'm sure it'll solve your problem. With my router, I have WEP protection. The passkey (i.e. 7A533AA1C7) is generated by me inputting some text (in this case 'nickiscool') and the router converting it to hex or something. I then have four options of codes similar to the above (let's call them 1,2,3 & 4). I select one of these, apply the settings, and thats the passkey set.

Then, I go to my wireless settings on my PC, try to connect to the wifi and input the passkey. Crucially, beneath the passkey entry bit is a 'Key Index', this has to be set to the correct number (1,2,3 or 4) for the connection to work.

For example, I have chosen passkey 2, so I must set my key index is set to 2. Everything works and I'm all happy. That is until I try to find the wifi on my new iphone...

It finds the network, but every time I input the correct passkey, it says it's incorrect. Frustrating! But, what it seems to me is that the iphone's 'Key Index' is permanently set to 1. So, to fix...

- Go into your router settings, generate passkeys and pick option 1.
- Go into your wireless settings, input the new passkey and set 'Key Index' to 1 so your wireless keeps working.
- Attempt to connect with your iphone, use new passkey.
- Bet it works!

Best of luck with it. Tricky and annoying problem, but this seems to have fixed it for me, and I tested it a couple of times to make sure the theory is correct.

Cheers

Nick

Iphone 4s no network coverage at home

By no network coverage do you mean no cellular signal or can't connect to your home wifi? If wifi trouble push settings button on iphone. Select and turn on wifi. It will search for available wireless networks. Choose your home wifi, should be the strongest signal, most bars. If you don't know your ssid , look on the sticker on the modem. For instance ssid at&t 2345. Once you select your ssid you need to enter password which is also found on the sticker on modem. Enter password and select join. You should now be connected to your wifi. This will always reconnect automatically when you leave and come back home. If not wifi issue, are you just too far from cell tower to get good signal?

Iphone three forgot phone password and am locked out

You can reset it using iTunes. Open iTunes, plug the iPod in using USB, then turn of the iPhone, once it's off hold down the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds, then release the lock button while continuing to hold the home button. After a few seconds iTunes should detect the iPhone. Then you should be able to restore the iPhone back to factory defaults. Even if you forgot the password.

Pls help! I can't use my iphone at home as everytime i try to connect it comes up "unable to join the network LIVEBOX-6A98" Why is this? I'm not very computer literate so a simple solution...

Hi Rachel

your phone is trying to join your homes network.
If you want it to then you have to verify that all network information is correct.
You may even need a network key (password)
simply go to your settings on phone and fill in th blanks.
The advantage is that you will not be billed for any data usuage. If you put skype on your phone you wouldn't be charged for calls either.
Well good luck hope this helps

Hoe can i connect my ipone to wiifi on my belkin router

Wi-Fi settings determine whether iPhone uses local Wi-Fi networks to connect to the Internet.
Turn Wi-Fi on: Choose Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on.
Join a Wi-Fi network: Choose Wi-Fi, wait a moment as iPhone detects networks in range, then select a network. If necessary, enter a password and tap Join (networks that require a password appear with a lock icon).
Once you join a Wi-Fi network manually, iPhone automatically joins it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPhone joins the one last used. When iPhone is joined to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows signal strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the signal. Set iPhone to ask if you want to join a new network: Choose Wi-Fi and turn "Ask to Join Networks" on or off. Join a closed Wi-Fi network: To join a Wi-Fi network that isn't shown in the list of scanned networks, choose Wi-Fi > Other, then enter the network name. If the network requires a password, tap Security, tap the type of security the network uses, and enter the password. You must already know the network name, password, and security type to connect to a closed network. Some Wi-Fi networks may require you to enter or adjust additional settings, such as a client ID or static IP address. You can type it manually by login onto the Belkin's network page using the browser and by copying the static and dynamic IP address.

If iphone was stolen but password protected. How many attempts do they have to try to get in before iphone is disabled. Also, if they try to restore via computer and don't have same computer I have, will...

This only works if you have the older versio of software installed. This trick is not a high tech technique, but just a simple unlocking steps to do. This simple steps can be done because iPhone a flaw. Try to slide to unlock, tap emergency call, after that, double tap the home button, you will find yourself in iPhone favorites. From there, you could access other menu like address book, dial keypad, and voice mail.
If you are the owner and wants to avoid this security flaw, you could do the following.
1. In the iPhone home, go to Settings.
2. Click on General.
3. Click on Home Button.
4. Click on either “Home” or “iPod”.
By doing this, when someone is doing double tap, he/she will be redirected to the unlock screen (if you choose HOME).
OR TRY THIS
U can get rid of the password by putting the iphone in restore mode. Once in the restore mode, you can connect your iphone to itunes and phone in restore mode menu will pop up. Click ok, and hit restore . This will reset your iphone and all of your contents and the iphone will be back to its original factory settings.
You can put the iphone in restore mode by holding the home and power button at the same time (sometimes it only works if u hold the power button at first and then hold on to home button)

Iphone wifi

You need to select the 'Settings' button on the home screen, then make sure that the 'Ask to Join Networks' option is turned on. Choose your network, and then enter in your password. I've had the same problem before, and it turned out that my phone wouldn't connect without setting the computer to require a password. If this doesn't solve your problem, please let us know.
