To take advantage of mapshare, your maps must be version 6.75 or higher, and software version 7.xxx
You can also buy new maps.
In both cases, you will have to use the software TomTom Home.

The best thing to do is up grade your SD card to a 2 gig this will give you plenty of space, for maps and up grades.Graham

Out of range should not occur. I am in australia and I have French maps and I can request Chans Elysee" and as soon as i get satellite I get a mileage and a drive carefully. I can flick it all the way to the beach and see the ocean i would cross to get there. A long trip and a wet one in a car! It might depend on the version of the map and the coverage ( usually 98%) Perhaps contact ToTom and pose the question of reliability. I would think the maps would work fine despite the message.
