SOURCE: Memory Card Format Fail

Never format a memory card using windows. Always use the camera to format it.
In genereal though, cards do not need formating before use, the camera will sort this out for you

SOURCE: memory card cannot read!!!

sometimes lapstops and PCS as well as Cameras can go out of line. That is the formatting in a particular PC may not be able to be read in another.
In you case this may not be so, as the card now cannot be seen. It would have been interesting to see if it could have read it before it was formatted by your laptop. Try another card in the camera first. If no other card can be read then the problem is on the read head of the camera.

This may be just dirt or damage, and it will have to be repaired. But try another card first as the card is cheaper than a repair.

Thanlks for using FIXYA

My panasonic camera DMC-F27 is showing "memory

Hi pblac11,

This could be a problem with the format of the memory card , or the memory card is not formatted as per the requirements of your camera.

I would give you a way out to try and see if it works , as I have been through this problem myself too.

Using a card reader device , connect your memory card to your computer and make sure it gets detected in your computer.

In case you are using windows xp , vista or windows 7 , you will find the removable drive relevant to your memory card being detected.

Now all you have to do is try and format the card in a mode that is different than the current one.

For e.g if your memory card has been formatted by NTFS file system , then try changing the format to the FAT32 file system.

and if it's FAT32 already , try formatting the card with the NTFS system and then try and insert the card in your camera after it has been formatted successfully.

The above solution has helped me , hope it helps you as well..:)

Your feed back would be appreciated.

Not a problem, but how do I delete ALL the pictures? I've lost my manual.

You can delete all the pictures on the memory card by formatting it. The memory card should be formatted each time you finish downloading pictures from it---FixYa is full of people asking why their memory cards don't work because they didn't format their cards regularly.

You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Lumix-Digital-Cameras/model.DMC-TZ1K

The formatting instructions are on page 91.

When I turn on my DMC LZ10 and try to take a picture (on any setting) I get message: "Memory card full" - I have three good memory cards that work in other cameras and they are unlocked- but...

I've gone into the owners manual for your camera and respectfully disagree with Panasonic's faults idea that you don't have to format the media card. Formatting the camera SD memory card is what you need to do. Any new memory card or any memory card that has been cleaned (formatted) in a computer or used in another camera must be formatted. I fully believe that if you format the memory card you are attempting to use your problem will end. I've done a screen shot here to show you what icon you need to find to perform this formatting.

New 4 g memory card says memory card error

I hope you have this problem solved but if not here are some solutions. First format the card as all new memory cards need to be formatted to the camera they are being used in. I'm not totally familiar with the model of camera you have but, if it has been working with say a 1gig card and you then install a 2gig card the camera may not accept a 2gig memory card. In this case you would need to go onto Panasonic's web site and download the updated firmware for your camera. In short if the memory card won't format then it's possible it's to big for the camera until you update the firmware

Hi: I have a lumix/Panasonic DMC-FS3. I keep getting a message "Memory Card Error. Please check the card." Nothing has happened to the card. What could cause that?

Has the memory card ever worked in this camera? If yes, try downloading all the pictures to your computer then format the memory card using the camera setip menu. If this is a new camera, Make sure the camera can use the SD HC type memory cards. Some older cameras cannot read the SDHC but are fine with the SD cards.

Panasonic Lumix will not read memory card.

Hi,

try formatting your cd card in your Fz. If it keeps telling you memory error, try using it in windows, put data on it, to see wether it can hold them and read them too.
Happeded to me once too, format did the job. Just format it in the camera, not your pc.

SD card - memeory card parameter error

Some camera's, especially older ones, have a limit as to the maximum size of the memory card that they support. Look in the manual to see what the camera can support.

Just bought a 16 gb memory card for my panasonic lumix tz5- when i inserted it , it says memory card parameter error- this camera is supposed to be able to take a 16 gb memory card, but it wont. works...

Try formatting the card.

As I am not familiar with the Panasonic cameras, nor did you say what card type you were using, I cannot give specifics on what to format it to (if using a computer) or how to do it through the camera, which may have an error and not recognize the card due to a lack of proper formatting, and thus may not allow you to access the card at all, even to format, or if your camera is able to format the card at all.

Specifying what brand and model of card you are using would help.
