You need to format the disk ....

The drives can be read by another computer, so the problem is most likely with OS/drivers on the HP giving the error. The specific drivers required to read each drive format could be missing/corrupt. Formatting shouldn't be performed on a drive that contains data unless backed up (redundantly). It may be possible to recover any lost data using free recovery software. Often a format preserves data, erases only the file directory.

I would try a system restore on the HP. If that fails to correct it install or upgrade format specific drivers (e.g. SD/SDXC drivers). Contact Magellan about the GPS: you may have formatted the device's system partition. It is unlikely your computer had the correct drivers to format that device, and it is likely formatted in an incompatible format (such as NTFS). Does Magellan provide a utility to read the device's memory? The SD card should be salvageable by formatting on another computer using the appropriate formatting utility. (Go to https://www.sdcard.org and navigate to their formatting utility.)

From that site: "If an SDXC memory card is used through the direct SD slot of a computer without SDXC driver installation, the card may not be recognized correctly and a message to prompt formatting may appear. In this case, do not format the SDXC memory card. It may erase the data on the SDXC memory card and format the card for a different file system, making it incompatible with SDXC devices."

How to Recover Pictures From Fujifilm FinePix S700 Storage Media

With 7 mega pixel camera, 10x optical zoom, 2.5 LCD, picture stabilization mode, and i-Flash intelligent Flash, the Fujifilm FinePix S700 fulfills all the requirements of any photographer. The storage media (SD and xD memory cards) used in this camera allows the photographer to save audios, videos, and photos of different sizes. Damage in storage media can occur any time, resulting in fatal consequences, like inaccessibility of data saved in the memory card. In most cases, the photographer encounters an error message stating that the card is corrupted. To overcome such corruption scenarios, the photographer needs to restore the data from an updated backup. But all photographers do not create a backup on regular basis. For them, a third-party Camera recovery software acts as a boon and helps them recover the data.
As a real-world instance, you encounter the below error message while trying to view the pictures saved in your SD card (inserted in Fujifilm FinePix S700):
"CARD ERROR"
After the above error message pops up, the data saved in the SD card becomes inaccessible.
Cause:
Few main causes for the above error message are:
1.Incorrect SD card format.
2.Incompatible SD card.
3.Memory card corruption due to unexpected camera shutdown, virus infection, and interrupted read or write operation.
Resolution:
To resolve the above error message and to access the data saved in SD card, you will need to:
1.Use a compatible SD card.
2.In case of memory card corruption, format the card in Fujifilm FinePix S700 camera. Though formatting brings the card in reusable state, all the audio, video, and picture files get deleted. To recover the deleted data, you will need to choose a powerful Camera recovery software.
Such recovery tools use effective scanning methods to ensure complete Camera data recovery. These tools can be downloaded from the Internet and used by anybody. Such applications are safe as they harm the original data saved in the memory card.
Digital camera recovery software is a world-renowned Photo Recovery utility used for recovering data from almost every type of memory card. This software ensures complete recovery of digital files, irrespective of their size or type. Compatible with Windows and Mac OS X, the read only software also recovers data from other storage media, like Zip drives, hard drives, etc.

Hi - I am getting an error message when i switch on my Sony Cybershot dsc t9 saying access and then it flashes format error C13.01 - can you advise how to resolve?

It might be due to a bad contact of the placed memorycard.

1. Pull the memorycard out and in the camera several times and retry.
2. If not OK, format the card in the camera. If that does not work, format it in the computer.
3. Try another memorycard and recheck.

My hp photosmart r707 gives me a message (card is unreadable) i have inserted a new card and i get the same message each time.

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. Some cameras have a capacity limit, and won't work with cards that are too large (in memory terms).

One thing you could try is formatting the card. There is a function in the camera menus to do this. If it won't format or gives an error when you try, then there may be an issue with the connectors in the card slot or the card may be incompatible. However, I would expect the camera to report that the card needed formatting rather than that it was unreadable, if formatting was the only problem.

Please try reformatting the memory card before transferring data to it. Card format could be incompatible with your phone. You may find Reformat option in one of the utility menus of your phone.

Nokia N70 wont acknowledge memory card?

Note: This device uses a Reduced Size Dual Voltage
(1.8/3V) MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC). To ensure
interoperability, use only dual voltage RS-MMCs. Check
the compatibility of an RS-MMC with its manufacturer or
provider.
Use only compatible Reduced Size MultiMediaCards
(RS-MMC) with this device. Other memory cards, such as
Secure Digital (SD) cards, do not fit in the memory card
slot and are not compatible with this device. Using an
incompatible memory card may damage the memory card
as well as the device, and data stored on the incompatible
card may be corrupted.

You cannot use the memory

memory card slot is open.

Format a memory card
When a memory card is reformatted, all data on the card
is permanently lost.
Some memory cards are supplied preformatted and others
require formatting. Consult your retailer to find out if you
must format the memory card before you can use it.
To format a memory card, select Options > Format mem.
card
. Select Yes to confirm. When formatting is complete,
enter a name for the memory card, and select OK.
