SOURCE: Needle & Bobbin out of sync
This description sounds like the machine is out of time. The needle should match up with a cut out section in the bottom of the bobbin area. If it is hitting, the timing has slipped, probably from sewing on a fabric that was too heavy for the machine.
SOURCE: bobbin case case keeps jamming
I am having somewhat the same problem with the exception that my needle did not break. I've cleaned and oil, but the bobbin case and projection positioned spring is not communicating to allow sewing to continue. The thread keeps jamming and the bobbin raises up the plate. So, what else am I to do?

This is a timing problem the hook timing needs adjustment, and possible the needle timing also
SOURCE: NEEDLE WON'T PICK UP BOBBIN THREAD

Testimonial: "Thanks! I was hoping to avoid paying for a fix, but it looks like I have to **** it up. So much for being thrifty and restyling my clothes."
SOURCE: needle hits bobbin case...
If the needle hits the bobbin case the are only 2 things that could be wrong. Lets hope its the easy one, there are more than one length of needles, if the needle is to long or it is not all the way up in the neelde bar, the needle will hit the inside of the bobbin case. Now if that is not the problem then the machine is out of time. ALWAYS check the easy stuff FIRST.
