I hate to give you bad news but you damaged the LCD panel when you had it out and its either live with the lines or throw the TV away, its easy to damage the panel when handling them
Testimonial: "Thanks, I thought I was being careful with the panel but I guess not. I will just use the tv to practice on."
SOURCE: thin horizonal line in middle on dark screen
The several thin white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the vertical output IC is not getting the boost voltage it needs to run correctly. The IC cannot operate for long like that and shorts out inside, which is when the vertical collapses altogether and you get the thin white line through the center of the screen. The good news for your son is that he had nothing to do with that, and it has nothing to do with the cable F connector. The set needs to be serviced by an experienced tech who will restore the boost supply and replace the vertical output IC, and when I do that I charge $75 but techs in your area will vary, so be sure to ask around.

Hi,
Well it may be the picture tube issue however the first thing you should try is to do a powercycle, which is to disconnect the power, unplugg all the connecions. turn it on for 20 seconds(power cord unplugged), than turn it off.
Plugg everything back on and check.
Also make sure that there are no magnetic feilds created nearby. The equipment with the magnet should not be place near the TV.
Also i am providing you a link which may be of some help to you.

Hope this resolves your issue or you may have to use the warranty if available.
All the Best
Sammy

One of your "X" buffer boards is defective. In Panasonic plasma tv's they are located at the bootom of the set and connect directly to the plasma diplay panel via a thin ribbon cable. The board you want to replace will be directly in line with the discolored vertival line in the picture. The part number is on the circuit board and usualy starts with "tnp..." or "txp..."
