THE PROBLEM IS IN THE POWER SUPPLY. PULL OUT THE POWER SUPPLY. NOTE TRANSFORMER L401 AND DIODE D400 HAVE DARKEN THE BOARD. RESOLDER THE PINS THERE. FIND SURFACE MOUNT RESISTOR R410 (FLIP SIDE OF BOARD) NEAR THE BOTTOM OF CAPACITOR EC401. VALUE OF RESISTOR IS 1003. SOLDER IN PARALLEL (TOP OF RESISTOR), A 220K 1/4 WATT RESISTOR. FIND A SKILLED HOBBIEST TO DO THIS. TV WILL BE FINE THANKS FOR ASKING, MATT OF MARTINS TV REPAIR.
Chances are you have backlight issues, I believe this set only has one strip down the middle of the TV with 13 lamps in it, if one is shorted it shuts down the power supply LED driver section, and I'm guessing this is what is happening

Use a Logitech 880 or even a 660 will work. EXCELLENT remotes. It is all programed online from your computer. Very easy to setup.

I just purchased the 19' SENS LCD TV + DVD and have DirectTV and was able to get the tv to work with the remote using Samsung as the manufacturer and 10178 for the code.

You can find the sylvania 37" LCD/DVD COMBO at Sam's club for 597.00 it is a special item for sams club. If you go to sams club on line you cna locate what sams club has this tv in stock but hurry they are going fast and there model number is LD370SC8. I am not sure where you are located but please start your search now and if you do not have a sams culb card you can get the lowest priced membership possible and due to the low cost the price of a membership is worth it.

TOPIC: Set comes on by itself
Symptom: When the set is first plugged in or after a power interruption the set comes on
Cause: Set was not taken out of factory mode, or has returned to factory mode
Cure: In the service menu go to setting FAC07, then change the value of OPTM2 to “00”
To enter the service mode simultaneously press “Volume Down” on the front panel and “Info” on
the remote control.
Use the original TV remote for the instrument.
Press “7” on the remote to enter factory menu 07. Use the channel down button to scroll down to
OPTM2, then use the volume buttons to set the value to 00. Press the “Sound” button on the
remote to exit the factory mode. DO NOT turn the set off until the screen displays “OK”.
