E04 MESSAGE KEEPS APPERING. HOW DO I REMOVE IT AND OPEN THE DOOR

  • Anonymous Jul 22, 2008

JVC GR-SXM260U Camcorder. When I turn this device on it pops up w/mesage: EO4 remove battery and reattach. The manual states to wait a "few minutes" and then reattach battery. It will not eject tape nor will it record/play in this mode. Tha manual is useless. It tates "if the problem persisits. contact a JVC dealer". When I have called a few dealers, all they can say is I sell them not fix them, JVC is doing a big disservice to thier customers w/this. It's a good camcorder when it was working. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm leaving on vacation next week and want to take it w/me. Thanks in advance.

The door is locked and won't open

To manually unlock the door lock system, perform the following steps:
1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the lower toe panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and

locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch

assembly is a teardrop shaped tab.
Gently pull the tab down approximately 1/4 inch,

or until a click is heard.
5. The door may now be manually opened.

Bosch washing machne error E04

This happened to me this morning and I did this. I found my daughters sock in the trap. After fixing I drained the load and started again. Works great. Bosch E04 Solution:
  1. Get some towels and if possible a wet/dry vac. If the machine drained, it won't be too bad. If your machine is stuck full of water, I can't say! I'd guess you could get wet.
  2. Locate the round door on the front of the machine (about 6" in diameter, lower right corner)
  3. Find a drill bit or small screwdriver that fits in the hole in the round door.
  4. Insert the bit into the hole in the door. It will push in a tab, it doesn't take much force. Rotate the hole to 6'oclock and it should come free.
  5. Once the door out of the way you'll be greeted by a 3-4" plastic cap with wings so you can unscrew it by hands. There is a small collector lip at the bottom of the cap, that is where I held my wet/dry vac to catch the water. Unscrew slowly so you don't get flooded. Take your time and keep unscrewing it until it is free.
  6. Pull out the trap that you just unscrewed and you'll most likely see the item that caused the E04 error code. There is an side of the trap that is marked that it needs to be installed facing downward, so watch for that when you put it back in.
  7. Read these directiosn upside down and backwards to put it all back together.
  8. Run a load and watch for leaks. You could leave the door off until you are sure you screwed the cap in tight enough.

E04 Error

Eject tape leaving cover open and remove battery. Re-insert battery and re-insert tape also leaving cover open. Keep repeating this process until eo4 message disappears. This worked for my GR-DVL100e after about four repeats. After getting your camcorder operational, they say it is good practice not to leave tape in camcorder when not in use.

i had the same problem with my cam JVC GR-DVL309 and i solve it.
HOW!
Eject the tape, reinsert it BUT while the tape is going down to read, push the door with your hand just a little bit to right side just a few seconds while is reading the tape and close the door, (i had done this 2 or 3 times) this way i have solve the E04 Error, now i can record and play with my cam.

E04 unit in safeguard mode

I tried every method I could find from people posting on the web, but the method that worked for me is this.

1. Eject the tape and close the tape holder.
2. Turn the camera off and remove the battery.
3. Put the battery back in. Leave the camera off.
4. Open the tape holder.
5. Slide the tape in, but as you press the holder in to accept the tape, keep your finger pressing in on the holder, being careful not to slow the tape holder from moving downward.
6. Turn the camera on.
7. If it doesn't work the first time, press more firmly to help the tape holder accept the tape.

That's it. This method seems to work for me and lets me use the camera for a long while. If the camera is sitting unused for more than a few hours, I have to do it again. And each time I insert a tape, I make sure that I keep pressing as the tape holder lowers the tape.

E04

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center
