I have a 20 HP kohler command and I don't think that I'm getting all the power.

When I idle it down I have to do it very slow to keep it from back firing and as I engage it in gear it pulls down I have to stop let it idle back up and go and stop and go its just a few seconds to idle back up each time.

Do normal tune up: fresh filters oil and gas, especially air filter and spark plug.

I think that there is still a piece of trash in the idle circuit. Did you remove the adjusting screw when you cleaned it?

check for fuel try starting fluid if it fires on that then you have spark if it does not then you have a spark problem and seeing the command engine has two coils check the safety switches on the mower side
