Because the holes do not line up, a small amount of water freezes under trough, and also leaks out to drip along the drain hose and onto floor. Is this a design flaw? How did the trough become misaligned? It is firmly attached to compartment walls. I can manually, with difficulty, push on the bottom to align the hole, but it does not stay. It does not connect to the tube drain by design! Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 253.5567440N
These often never line up and shouldn't be an issue. The most likely problem is a slow/or blocked drain. Sometimes you can flush it with hot water and it will clear it but sometimes it needs to be removed and maybe flush it outside from the garden hose or in the laundry room. You would need to pull the unit out and remove the bottom cardboard cover to get to the drain tube.

Your refrigerator is frosting up and your drain is freezing over. You will most likely need to defrost the coils in the freezer and the drain. Check the heater and defrost thermostat for continuity and replace if bad. If heater and defrost thermostat are both good you may need a defrost timer or control board.
Another item to consider is a defrost drain probe. This item attached to your heater and goes into the drain to keep it from freezing over. Good luck to you and I hope this helps you.

the condensation drain line might be clogged.

Yes, you are correct, that is a drain. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush out the drain tube until water will flow out into the drain pan under the refrig. (where the air blown over it will cause it to evaporate)

Hi, You will need to remove the rear panel in the freezer and then remove the ice build up in the drain pan. The drain hole will have ice down in it.Make sure all the ice is gone and then flush the drain hole out with hot water (a basting serenge works great)
This should take care of your water problem.
If I can assist you further, please let me know and please rate me response so that other as well as my self will know how I am doing.
Thanks

Our GE Profile leaked from the freezer door and this is what I was told by a service man to try before he came and it worked. There should be a "well" on the bottom of your freezer floor where the water runs when it defrosts. Yours is probably now covered with a sheet of ice. You can melt the ice with a hairdryer using dry towels to soak up the water as you work or really hot wet rags and ring them out in the sink. After all the ice is removed pour a small amount of warm water into the "well" and stick your finger in there and "plunge" it - like you would a clogged toilet - with your finger. This will purge the ice that blocked the drain. Check on this every couple of months to make sure you don't end up with the same problem in a year or so.
