SOURCE: Can I use an Apple M7649 Studio Display with a MacBook Pro

Do you have the black unibody Macbook Pro that was just released, or the silver model?

Since the display is DVI, it will directly hook up to the silver model. If you have the new model, you need a mini DVI to DVI adapter.

SOURCE: MX310 - Wireless network printer used on an Apple Airport Extreme

Here's what worked for me: I had everything set with my wireless network which included an Airport Extreme base station and two Airport Express units to extend range. I still couldn't plug and play with my printer. 1. You have to plug your printer into the Airport Express, turn it on, then select a document to print from your computer. 2. Select print from the pulldown menu (or select 'command P' on the keyboard). 3. When the print dialog window appears, go to the "Printer:" selection bar near the top of the window and select "print & fax preferences..." 4. This opens a new window, "print & fax." Near the bottom left of this window just below an icon list of your printers are a "+" button and a "-" button right next to each other. 5. Click "+". Yet another window opens which will reveal a list with your printer on it. 6. If you don't see your printer, click the "default" icon in the top left hand corner of the new window. 7. Select your printer, then click "add" on the bottom right hand corner of the window. The window will close automatically and return you to the "print & fax" window. 8. You should now see your printer in the list. You may say, "My printer was already in the list," but that's not good enough. The process you just went through enabled the computer to detect it on your network. You may want to use the "-" button to remove any previously listed printers from the list in the "print & fax" window. 9. Now you should be able to close the "print & fax" window and get some wireless printing done.

Question edited for clarity and toss in some CAPS.

It is a well known issue.

If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check. Your computer's startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk or an external storage device, then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk.

Transcode/Convert AVCHD MTS/M2TS Video to FCP Apple ProRes 422 without rendering...

<b>Apple ProRes 422</b> is a standard-definition and high-definition lossy video compression format developed by Apple Inc. for use in post production. It was introduced in 2007 with Final Cut Studio 2 and is comparable to Avid's DNxHD codec which has the same purpose and uses similar bit rates. Both are DCT basedintra-frame-only codecs, and are therefore simpler to decode than distribution oriented formats like H.264. FCP/FCP7 is Mac based editing software which supports transcoding AVCHD MTS/M2TS to Apple ProRes for further editing. <br /><br /><b>AVCHD MTS/M2TS</b> files produced by HD camcorder like Panasonic HDC-TM700, HDC-HS700, HDC-SD700/SD600, Sony CX350, Sony CX550, Canon HF200, etc are not the preferred formats by FCP/FCP7. Even you will have problem for transferring and logging these MTS, M2TS videos. <br /><br />So the program you need is a great <b><a href="http://www.aunsoft.com/video-converter-mac/">Mac MTS Video to Apple ProRes 422 Converter</a></b>. With it, you can convert any HD camcorder 1080 60p/50p, 1080i AVCHD (*.mts, *.m2ts), 720p AVCHD lite files to Apple ProRes 422 for editing with Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro 7 on Mac. <br /><br />Below is the step-by-step guide for you to quickly <b><a href="http://canon-videoconverter.com/2011/06/transcodeconvert-avchd-mtsm2ts-video-to-fcp-apple-prores-422-without-rendering-on-mac/">Transcode/Import AVCHD to FCP Apple ProRes 422 Codec (*.mov)</a></b> for editing. <br /><br />Step 1. Download MTS/M2TS files to Apple computer. <br />Connect your AVCHD camcorder c to Apple computer via USB cable, find the .mts, *.m2ts files from the camera folder like PRIVATE &gt; AVCHD &gt; BDMV &gt; STREAM. Then copy and transfer the .mts, *.m2ts files from camera to the Apple hard drive disk. <br /><br />Step 2. Import MTS/M2TS files to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac. <br />Run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the <b><a href="http://www.aunsoft.com/video-converter-mac/">best AVCHD to FCP Apple ProRes Converting software</a></b>, and click the "Add" button to load AVCHD .mts or .m2ts videos. You may also directly drag and drop the AVCHD video to application UI for importing files. <br /><br />Step 3. Choose Final Cut Pro-Apple ProRes (*.mov) output format. <br />Click the "Format" option and navigate the mouse cursor to <b>Final Cut Pro &gt; Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)</b> as output format. The Mac MTS/M2TS Video to FCP Converter will convert AVCHD to Apple ProRes 422 MOV with high quality. (<b>Tip:</b> The Apple ProRes (*.mov), DVCPROHD (*.mov), HDV (*.mov) formats under Final Cut Pro output profile are available when your FCP is installed on Mac). <br /><br />Step 4. <b>Convert AVCHD MTS/M2TS video to Apple ProRes (*.MOV) for Final Cut Pro</b>. <br />Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Mac MTS/M2TS to FCP Converter will start the conversion from AVCHD to Apple ProRes MOV for Final Cut. <br /><br />After the conversion, you can easily import <b><a href="http://www.aunsoft.com/video-converter-mac/">Apple Prores 422 to Final Cut Pro without rendering</a></b> for editing. <br /><br /><b>Tips:</b> <br /><br />If you would like to edit AVCHD MTS/M2TS with FCE/iMovie, Avid, etc, you can convert MTS/M2TS to Mac itself bring format like Apple Intermediate Codec, DV PAL/NTSC, DVCPRO NTSC/PAL, DVCPRO50 PAL/NTSC (*.MOV) for FCE and iMovie, or transcode MTS/M2TS to Avid DNxHD (*.mov) for Avid on Mac.

How to set Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to run in 64-bit mode

There are two ways to set Mac OS X Snow Leopard to run in 64-bit mode.
The first way is quite simple: you just have to hold down "6" and "4" keys while the system is booting up.
The second way is simple as well. You only have to search for a file named "com.apple.Boot.plist" in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration. Open it with Text Editor and edit line 9: where it reads "<string></string>", change to "<string>arch=x86_64</string>". Without quotes, of course.
Using the second way, Mac OS X Snow Leopard will boot in 64-bit mode whenever you turn on your computer.
PS: 64-bit mode is available just in some machines like MacBook Pro and Mac Pro. To check if your Mac supports 64-bit mode, write the following command in Terminal, again without quotes: "ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi". You will get the answer "firmware-abi" = <"EFI64"> if your system can run in 64-bit mode or "firmware-abi" = <"EFI32"> if not.

Mac pro wont start nothing happens power light stays on

this can happen if your hard drive is gone. Start will reinstallation of mac os from your CD etc. first. if that solves the problem Good!, otherwise change hard drive and reinstall mac os. Third reason why your Mac pro will do this is because of messed up mother board which can only be fixed by your local computer store etc.

How to convert Blu-ray movies to Apple ProRes 422 codec on Mac

Thanks to its outstanding technical characteristics, Apple ProRes 422 brings powerful new capabilities to Final Cut Pro editors. It will fit flawlessly into demanding editing and effects workflows. ProRes 422 is a better choice for ensuring all creative work to maintain its original, pristine color and detail, from capture to final viewing.

However, there are seldom Blu-ray applications developed for Mac users, not to mention a program that can rip Blu-ray to Apple ProRes 422 codec for editing in Final Cut Pro. In order to make some BD HD contents into my own film works in FCP, I would like to see a straight BD conversion to Apple's PrORes 422 codec, because this codec remains the stunning HD quality and has fast decoding speed and low compression rate. However, I have no luck, and I can not find a program to achieve this goal directly without the help of third party software. Right now, I have to use Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper for Mac to convert Blu-ray to h.264 MP4 HD first, and then convert again to ProRes 422 using Compressor. This workaround seems a little troublesome and time consuming, because a straight conversion would save me 2 hours. Following is my workflow, and how about yours? Would you like to share?
Firstly, using Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper for Mac to convert Blu-ray to h.264 MP4 HD:

1. Click "DVD Folder" or "IFO File" to load BD files
2. Click on the pull down menu after "Subtitle" and "Audio" respectively to select your needed subtitle and audio track to convert.
3. Click on the drop-down list of "Format" to select "HD Video" > "H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)" as output format

4. Click on "Settings" button to adjust audio and video parameters
Bit rate, aspect ratio, frame rate, sample rate, and channels are all changeable in the following interface, so you can adjust them according to your own requirements.

5. Click "Convert" button to start ripping BD to H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)
Once finished, click on "Open" button to get the output files for Compressor.
Afterwards, convert h.264 MP4 HD video to Apple's PrORes 422 codec with Compressor.
The detailed steps of this part are skipped, if any of you have figured out a straight way to convert Blu-ray to PrORes 422 codec, please let me know, and any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
