I inherited a Samsung 60" (UN60FH6003FXZA). The red light (standby) comes on, BUT nothing happens; no sound, no picture. What is your professional opinion on what to do and what parts to buy?

Testimonial: "But the red light does come on when plugged in. Its just that the tv itself wont turn on. Shouldn't this indicate that the power supply unit is working properly?"

Red light comes on to show that there is power to the unit, when turned on the light changes when it senses current draw. Since it is not changing to show current draw, it is highly suspect that a latching circuit has failed. Unless you want to measure specific voltages and capacitors then you just replace the most likely defective unit and that would be the PSU.

Not so fast, I hate having people ordering parts they don't need because of bad advice!!!! You will need to test the PSON or PWR_ON voltage before ordering anything, that signal comes from the main board and if you don't have that then its the main not power board that has failed, Ive replaced a lot more main boards than power boards with a symptom you have...the voltage at that test point should be around 0 with the set in standby mode and go to about 3.4 when you push the power button on the TV...if you get that voltage then change the power board if you don't then its the main

Hey Larry nice of you to read my post to the end where I said " unless you want to measure specific voltages and capacitors..." So I did not give bad advice!! Also your post assumes the OP knows how to check voltages etc. and wants to troubleshoot to the component level.

SOURCE: Sony Trinitron KV-28LS36U no sound or picture, the standby light flashing green and red but if i switch it on a little bit of sound comes and then switches off. how can i repair?

The unit is shutting itself down because a problem was detected internally. When this happens, the standby light should blink a repeated pattern. Please count the number of blinks and post the number here. That will indicate the circuit in which the problem occurred.

Thanks,
Dan

I have a samsung model UN60FH6003FXZA. TV will not turn on and the standby light just flashes real fast?

Sounds like something is wrong with the electronic board in the unit. Take it to a repair shop or if you are brave, fix it your self...

Samsung TV UN60FH6003FXZA 60" Picture froze and TV started blinking on off, or light on light off.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Samsung hc-r5245w no power

Hello Chac c,

The reason that you are getting a 'red light' is because your lamp is burned out. There is a panel on the back of the TV that gives you access to this lamp. You can remove it and check the part# to be sure then replace it. I did a quick search for you just based on the model# which you provided. You can see it here - http://www.nextag.com/serv/main/buyer/OutPDir.jsp?search=samsung+lamp&gg_site=&gg_aid=1295966762

Hope this helps :)
