SOURCE: cpu fan noisy/chip fan fail error messages

I had tons of problems with these Asus chip fans. I asked Asus to deliver 12 replacements (as I had a lot of pcs at that time with the same problem) It worked well, but placing a tiny heatsink well glued to the chip worked well also, as long as one does not want to overclock the thing. It's true that the temp raised a bit, but it remained pretty much in the tolerance area.

SOURCE: emachine t5230 cpu fan too fast

Hi orinzelenak,

This may seem like to simple, but try checking to see if the technician plugged the fan power supply into the correct pin for it. It sounds like the fan is plugged into a external plug directly from the power supply and not into the board, which would control the fan speed for you. Give a look, and maybe it's just that simple.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Dell GX280 High Speed Fan and No Display.

i had same problem today and i tested my machine and solved the problem at last.
the problem is the thermal value that your mainboard sets for your cpu.
please replace the mb.
ps: before this process,i tried almost everything . cpu fan , memory , cpu , cables ,case ... everything. but the problem is on your mb.

Emachine 5250 2.93 cpu fan runs all the time at max speed

Go into the BIOS options and check the fan speed settings, if there is no option or way of reducing the fan speed then you will need to open the PC, vacuum out any dust, and also clear down your startup items (start-run-msconfig)

Well if the fan is runing at top speed I dont think you have a bad fan, if you re-pasted the CPU correctly (I suppose you cleaned the dust build up in the heat radiator as well) since you had it in your hands... I dont think it's radiator dirt, and if the system POST (Power On Self Test) an can boot in to the OS (Operating System) I don't think it's the CPU either... The only thing I could think of is a power supply issue, try an other one, or a bad component RAM, PCI CARD, ETC... (but befor spending money) unpluge averithing you can leaving just the power, CPU, RAM and start the computer, if it POST and the fans are at a normal speed, than power down the computer and plug back stuff ONE AT A TIME to determine which of the components is causing the problem, if not sucsessful than try an other power supply or other RAM modules...

Cheers!

hi gregrobinhol,

check if the psu fan is working if not then the psu is the problem if the cpu' fan is not working unseat all the memory, clean the metal contacts underside of the memory with an alcohol and a cotton let it dry for 5-10 mins then put it right back. if this does not work you have a defective motherboard.

hope this helps

In my opinion you have a faulty power supply, replacing only the fan may not solve your problem. Try replacing the power supply.

The PSU fan does not run, computer shutsdown.

Check the CPU fan, it may be faulty and causes the CPU to overheat and shut down.

I agree...sounds like a power supply problem. Typically a bad power supply will not damage the motherboard. It should still be functional.

E machine no power

Make sure the RAM is seated, the CPU, any video card and the Power supply is properly connected.

If you power it on, still get no POST (beep at startup from the PC speakers) its time to replace the motherboard.

Compaq Presario 4400us

Either the new power supply you purchased is not functioning correctly. But, assuming it is now that you are getting some form of power to your PC, it is very likely the motherboard. Whatever fried your old power supply (or it could have just been the power supply itself) most likely fried your motherboard in the process. Probably not the CPU since the MB can't even post.

Emachines 1900+ gets power to the monitor and computer but wont boot

Buy a dianostics card, and find out if its the RAM, CPU, OR Motherboard. (sounds like a ram or CPU problem though) if you have more than one stick of ram in the system, take one out, and power it up, if still not response, to the other stick out, and put the stick you took out the first time, and put it back in.
