I recently had the problem of the dreaded "de-scale" message coming up on my coffee maker. After descaling my coffee maker 3 times, the "de-scale" message wouldn't go away. I called the Customer Service number and was told to unplug the coffee maker for an hour and that should re-set the machine. I did that and still the de-scale message remained. Another phone call and another customer service representative and I was told to hold down the Hot Water and Rinse buttons together. I placed a large mug and hit the buttons. There was a good bit of water that came through but IT WORKED! The coffee maker is as clean as can be and working very well. I suggested to the Customer Service Representative that Cuisinart should include this in the instruction and troubleshooting section. But I doubt that will happen. Sad that the web site info is not updated. Wanted to share my experience so it might help others frustrated by this issue.
Thank you so much! This issues was driving me crazy. I descaled three times, Googled and then unplugged it. This worked on the first try!
For three years, I've seen that message and I have de-scaled more times than I can remember. I just tried your method and EUREEEEKA!!!! it worked. Thank you.
I just tried this and it worked! Glad you shared this and I was easily able to find it. THANK YOU
Wow awesome! Worked like a charm- have descaled 3 times with vinegar and special product that was supposed to work better than vinegar!
This works great, Thank you for sharing
I double checked my user manual and there were no instructions how to clear the DESCALE message. I believe I have the first version of the SS-10 and manual. The lid must be closed, place a mug, press both HOT WATER and RINSE buttons at the same time. The message will clear as the mug starts filling up with clear water.
I tried this and I still have the descale message. :(

SOURCE: After performing a descaling cycle, the descaling light still flashes, what is wrong?
The manual states that after you descale, you have to hold down the hot water button for 6 seconds, that will turn it off and "reset the timer" till the next time it needs to descale.

Hello sandra_strat,
There are two possible issues, but easy to do. When decalcifying your unit the solution should be 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. So if you have a 12 cup maker it would be 8 cups water and 4 cups vinegar. Complete the process with a pot or two of fresh water to rinse. Second, there may be a water filter stick that is removable. Open the lid and look for it in one of the corners, pull it out and remove the carbon filter there. (You can get a new on Amazon). Then replace the stick.
I hope this is a help for you. If it is please leave positive feedback for me. Thanks! NormanZ
SOURCE: Descaled the Keurig - light still on.
Try running water through without the K Cup inside. My machine has the same problem and the "descale" message goes away after using this procedure. I am beginning to think that the bottom line on all of this is a pump that is steadily weakening.
