I need a 600w/900w switch for a Lakewood oil filled heater 1500 watt. It has a yellow light on the 600w side. and red light on the 900w side. I need the whole switch. Where do I get one?

It all depends how cold you are .Start with low, turn it up if still cold.

When you turn them on from cold you can hear about 5 minutes of snap, crackle, pop until the oil comes up to temperature. After that this unit throws out a good amount of heat on the 900 watt and 1500 watt settings.

No, the oil does not break down over the years of service. These units are made and sealed from the factory. The purpose is to make a unit that does not require repairs and will run for years. It appears that the TSTAT is not sending proper amperage through. My suggestion is to replace the unit as it costs more to repair then to replace.
Sorry for the bad news, but these units are just not meant for service, hence the price.

I have a Lakewood 7096 heater. We purchased it used and got 8 to 10 years of service out of it. It was never heavily used while in our possession, just to heat the bathroom for showers.

The 900W switch quit working after used it and showered Sunday. The 600W switch still works fine, but the unit doesn't produce much heat at any speed.

After looking at various posts on fixya today, I decided to pull the pair of switches out. The 900W switch is burnt. The wire attaching to the 900W switch is burnt and bare!!! I don't know what happened. I would be scared to use it again, even if I replaced the switches and the bare wire. I don't know if it's even safe to use the 600W setting.

Anyway, I purchased a sunbeam radiator heater this morning. The ol Lakewood has the wheels you are missing. If were to come to an agreement on price, I would be happy to ship them to you. They are in good shape, just a little squeeky, which a little oil would fix.

I could not easily find an instruction sheet, but I believe that the top knob is the thermostat... rotate it clockwise for higher temperatures and counter-clockwise to lower the temperature. The lower knob controls the number of heating elements. The first dot/dash if for the 600W element only, the second longer dot/dash is for the 900W element only; and the longest dot/dash is to select both the heating elements giving 1500W total output power.

Look for a thing called a Thermal Fuse, small, pencil sized cylindrical, silver, (usually) with stiff lead at each end. It should be in the Phase/Active line. Try replacing that.

No I never had any luck and the parts likely 1/2 the cost or more of a new one at wal mart and the heat element would still be old too

You can go to the radio shack and purchase a universal switch to replace it.As long as the replacement switch will hold 900 watts or more(125volts)it will work.Take the switch with you.Replacement parts are almost impossible to find.Hopefully,this will help you.As the heaters go out,switch or thermostat,or element,I but a new one,I have been for a long time.I end up with extra parts to fix one or two,so I end up using the heaters longer than expected.Don`t buy the digital L E D versions,they won`t work right,and go out quickley. If I can help,let me know.I hope this is helpful.

The red dials (I think - I can't find a pic where they are facing forward to see them) should control the wattage you have the heater set at. You can set it at 500 900 and 1500 watts usually. The first dial turned on would set the heater at 500. Turning the second dial on will set the heater at 900. And having both on will set it at 1500. And of course the more watts the more heat that will come out of the heater.
