SOURCE: lost power supply
Hi,
If the desktop charger is the version that can accommodate two radios simultaneously similar to the T5000, then the AC wall adapter or the power supply is 9 volts AC.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

If there are two wires running from the power button on your case to the motherboard, take them off and try jumpering those two terminals with a jumper or something that will make contact for just a second and them take back off. Your power button may have fried along with the power supply.

Hello,
You are speaking of the female power jack plugin...that is inside your laptop.
Ok first thing you would have to find a replacement power jack...ebay
would be your best bet or a quick search on google might find a website.
If you can do that know in advance that you will have to take your
laptop apart. Working on a computer can get complicated but a laptop is
even harder.
If the first two things I mentioned is not a problem then the last
thing is you will have to be pretty experienced at soldering. If the
power connector is soldered onto the motherboard (always is) then you
will first have to remove it without damaging the board itself.
Then you will have to be able to solder all the connections back on
without getting any solder on the area around it as you will damage the
motherboard.
Post back with any questions or comments. But what I'm getting at is if
you can't do all those things then your only option is to go to HP's
support site and email them to ask how much it would cost you to have
them repair it.
Thank you for choosing Fixya!

No.
AC power is like a child's swing -- it goes from "neutral" to "positive" to "neutral" to "negative" to "neutral", and repeats.
DC power is like leaning into a strong wind -- as long as you keep leaning, you stay on your feet; stop leaning, and the force of the wind will blow you down.
So, you cannot substitute AC for DC power.
