Hello, Wendy -

Your Fossil watch may be new to you, but it seems from several online sale sites it is a vintage watch. See information here (a Fossil web page):
https://www.fossil.com/us/en/products/vintage-muse-three-hand-stainless-steel-watch-sku-es4168p.html
I have no idea when it was manufactured and sold, so have no idea when Fossil discontinued you model of watch.

It is a battery-run watch. The quartz battery may be dead. Did you take it to a store which sells watches to have the battery replaced?

If, after a new battery is installed, the watch still does not work, you can do a couple of things:

* Decide you still the like the watch and have it repaired. See information here:
https://www.fossil.com/us/en/customer-care/warranty-and-repairs.html

* Contact the business / person from whom you purchased the watch, state that after the battery has been replaced the watch still does not work and ask to return it for a full refund

Best wishes.

Take it back to the shop where you bought it.

If you bought it online, it is almost certainly a replica made in China. Take it to a local jeweler and ask them to replace the battery and tell you if it is genuine. It will cost you $6 to $15 to replace it.

SOURCE: Brand new watch won't work

Check your users manual if your watch have two batteries. If yes, you need to replace digital part battery.
If your watch has only one battery, your digital screen or plate is defective. Bring it back to the retailer and ask to replace for the decently working watch.
But first of all try to fiddle with all pushbattons- sometimes it helps.

Get battery out again. Clean (scrape) all the battery related contacts using steel needle or small screwdriver. Make sure the battery is not underpowered. Refit the battery keeping the right polarity and set the watch.
Don't forget to rate, please.

1)Get the battery out again and check for power. 1,5 Volt batteries should be 1,52V - 1,54V and the 3Volt batteries shold be 3,1V - 3,3V in charge.
2)Take the hardened steel needle or watchmakers screwdriver and clean (scrape) both contacts off any visible residue till they are shiny. aaaaaaaUce dust blower to get rid of scrape-offs.
3)Make sure the contacts are touching the corresponding battery side only and not shortcuting the battery.

Do not forget to rate please.

You want to know type, not size. Take the watch to a jeweler who, for a few dollars will replace the battery.

I have a fossil watch with ES-1426 3000601 model number. Wanted to know if it's fake or genuine. Where can I find the authenticity of this? A friend just gave it to me.

Be sure it is genuine as the Fossil watches are not in that league to make fakes. Even fake watch manufacturing needs a significant money investment,so, expectations for quick turnaround and investment recovery are common. This would not be possible with fake Fossil watches as the average price is about £70 for original and this is comparably low price in watch market.
Don't be scared away by this- Fossil is good brand: they just using cheap labor and parts, at the same time offering good looking and quality watches to masses.
