That is the way it works. If you have an convection oven then they both work in bake mode but they alternate between the two.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Super Capacity 465

I have the same problem intermittently on my Super Cap 465. After reading the following quote from another site, "There have been cases where radio waves, electronic signals and sometimes something as strange as dimmers in lights have caused some weird problems with some computer panels in stoves like these", I tries turning off lights that might be on the same circuit and wouldn't you know it, the oven igniter circuit worked.

SOURCE: Model MGR4452BDB range top burners work but oven

The igiter is bad and needs replaced . The glow bar has a crack and is not getting hot enough to open the oven valve allowing it to ignite.

SOURCE: ka gas range the glow bar comes on but it takes

Hi, this sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, if it does light the burner, there may be delayed ignition (pop), does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Oven will not come on

Does your clock work? This sounds like either a lack of voltage to the oven igniter, or a failed spark igniter or both. Your oven igniter is the easiest to check. With broiler door open or the plate above your oven burner removed, turn your oven on and look for a red to white glow near your ovens burner. This is a ceramic glow plug, and it will not allow gas to leave your manifold until the igniter has reached the proper temperature. If there is no glow, then your igniter has failed and needs to be replaced. The spark module that clicks as you turn your burner has obviously either died, or there isn't enough voltage being supplied to allow it to start up. Unplug your 110v wire from the stove and try a hair dryer or other 110v appliance at the wall outlet to determine if you have proper voltage there.

The worst case scenario is that both your oven igniter and spark module have died, which is rare unless you have had a power surge or lightning strike near the power transformer to your house.

The cheapest way to test this is to buy the oven igniter first, since they are far cheaper than the spark module. If the new igniter lights up, then you can be pretty sure it isn't your power outlet, and can safely move on to the spark module.

Whirlpool gas oven sf315pemb1- oven not heating

Hi, It sounds like the ignitor has gone bad. Remove the floor panel in the oven and locate the ignitor fastened to the burner. There should be 120V going to the ignitor harness.
If you have voltage but no ignition, change the ignitor.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

If the glow bar does not come on the safety valve will not open - no bake burner. check the electrical harness first then Try changing the igniter (glow bar first) before changing the safety valve/regulator.
