SOURCE: ge spectra gas stove top not lighting

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:

  1. Turn you burner to the Lite position:

If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.

If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

  2. Clean the burner and electrode:

First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.

Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.

  3. Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

  4. The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

Hi ewood,
You can look up your ge owners manual at ge.com . If the oven has stopped working chances are you have a bad ignitor. the part number is WB2X9154 . The part is $69.99 and I have this item in stock. Shipping will be $6.50 in the continental US>
I hope this will FixYa. If you have more questions please let me know. I can tell you how to remove the old ignitor if needed.

SOURCE: GE gas stove the burners on top work, the oven won't get hot

The most common reason a gas oven won't heat is a bad igniter. It is located near the valve and burner under the oven bottom. You can usually see it glow orange just before the fire lights. Most GE ranges take a cylindrical igniter part #WB2X9154 or #WB13K21 rectangular igniter.

SOURCE: Counter top stove burner won't light

Hi, You asked a very generic question but I will try to give you a good answer. If the pilot is good and you can light the burner with a match, (this checks everything else) then the most common problem would be the burner holes in front of the pilot are clogged. When cool, remove the burner and inspect the holes, any debris needs to be removed, a bent paper clip works really well. Compressed air helps as well. If there is a tube to the pilot make sure it is exactly where it belongs and that it is clean. If the match didn't light the burner or the flames is not all blue like the rest, there is something else wrong and you need to get back to us with a make and model to better help you. Make sure the burner gets seated back on the orifice correctly and best of Luck to you!

SOURCE: Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

I smell gas and my burners wont light - is there a pilot light in these ranges?

The best way to find out if if your stove has a pilot light, is to lift the top panel of the range . The pilot will usually be located between the burners. Typically you will have two pilots. One for the left and one for the right. The pilot light will ignite with a match without having to turn the burner knobs to the "on" position. Good luck

Stove top burners won't light.

Susan, there is no pilot flame on the Spectra models of ranges. However, the possibility that the electronic ignitors have gotten soaked and are shorting out is quite likely.

You should disconnect the power to the oven and remove the burner grates, burner caps, and the burner assembly cores to expose the ignitor posts. Check to see if there is any remaining water there and clean off and dry the ignitors and burners completely, as they might have something on them causing them to short out against the stove top, rather than spark properly, as they should.

Once you've cleaned and replaced the stove top parts, restore power and try to light each burner, one at a time. If none of them spark or light, then you need to check to make sure you haven't tripped a breaker for the stove or a GFCI outlet that the outlet that the stove might be plugged into, somewhere in the Kitchen.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

For the GE XL44 model, where would i find the pilot light? the stove is not working

There is not pilot light on the stove top since the burner is activated by a spark generate by high voltage to a small ceramic disk with a wire protruding from it by the burner.
You have the have AC Power to the stove and you should hear a clicking when you slightly turn on the burner. Once the burner is on fire then turn the burner control to the desired temperature. If the burner will not light after 4 seconds of clicking sounds turn the burner control off and make sure the round gas diffuser on top of the burner is correctly seated on the burner. It should lock in place and is removable for daily cleaning of the stove. Now try the burner control again in the light position for no more than four seconds to see if it lights.
Do you smell gas? Do you hear clicking when slightly turning the burner knob? If yes to both the stove is working and the top of the burner is not seated correctly. If no on either or both you may have a stove, electrical or gas problem.

Propane not getting to oven... stove top works fine..

The pilot light must be lit and stay lit before you will have any propane coming into the oven. This is a safety feature.

GE Spectra TrueTemp Oven Pilot is Out

REmove bottom panel from stove. shut gas off for at LEAST 5 min. Longer is better. Then placel open flame above gas nozzle, slowly turn to ignite posiiton. After it is lit, wait 30 seconds and turn to on positon.
If by chance this model doens't have a knob for this, then turn gas valve off for 5 min, let fumes evaporate, light flame, place over nozzle, turn gas on.replace bottom oven panel slowly.

Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.
