looks like hardware. Locks up with any software. It is a Philips 5 MB webcam that comes with V lounge. Also locks up with Skype or the flash plugin in facebook.

Have tried to re-install several times and tried to find new drivers. Device manager always indicates the camera is working fine.

Hi,

Do you think its due to external webcam ?

You mean that if you dont use webcame it works fine.

If this is the case you just uninstall the webcame drivers from Add/Remove Programmes under Control Panel.

Try to get the latest drivers from webcame manufacture website which suits your windows(OS) and install it again.

Toshiba satelite L45-4687 bios password lost

You will need to open the Toshiba case, then find and remove the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes before replacing it. Some Toshiba laptops have a BIOS reset switch on the motherboard. In both cases you need to open the laptop case to solve your problem.

Toshiba Satellite L455-S5000 monitor blackout but works w an external monitor

This is a tricky situation, any fluid that ends up inside can cause a cascade effect, hours, days, weeks and even months before the full efects are known. You could end up changing the screen and down the road face major failure in the motherboard. Under the circumstances I would consider a laptop replacement.

Hi there, I have a Toshiba external HDD 250GB that is giving me some problems and need some urgent help! When I plug my external HDD into my laptop everything seems to work fine. The lights come on, the...

It sounds as though your issue is one of in adequate power. Do both the external HDD have their own power source, or are they powered through USB? if they are powered through USB it may be that as soon as the second drive spins up to transfer the files, it overwhelms the limited power of the laptop. You can try it with the laptop plugged in (though this may not provide it with more power than the battery) or by purchasing a usb hub with its own external power source so that it is not drawing power from the laptop, or purchase an external hard drive with its own power source
The other option is simpler and free, and its to copy the files first to your laptops own HDD, then unplug the source external hard drive, and then plug in the drive you want to copy to, then transfer the files from your laptops hard drive. This will of course take twice as long, but will cost you nothing.

I have a 320gb toshiba external hard drive, i've been using it around 3 years without any trouble. A few days ago i lost the cable connecting it to the PC. I bought a few cables but no use. Doesn't...

Hi there,

This is because there is a connection problem between the external drive and the computer. If you have changed cables to no avail, you can open the casing of the external drive where you will find the hard disk inside. Unplug the two cables connected to the harddisk and replug it after a minute. Then try again. If it still does not work, then you need to buy just a usb enclosure and plug the harddisk there to be able to use it again.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

I just recenily bought a toshiba laptop and I need help learning how to make a video and sending it by email can you help me?

If you mean making a video using your webcam, have a look at this:
http://www.pcauthorities.com/multimedia/record-video-with-your-webcam

For sending it by email, the primary problem is the size. Better to use a file sharing service, like DriveWay or 4Shared.

Turn power on..PC screen black, nothing, will not boot up

Hello,

Your first approach would be to attempt to reset the laptop by removing external power and the battery and leaving those out for a few minutes. Then, re-install the battery and add external power. Try rebooting again. It may be okay.

Since you state the machine appears not to be booting even though the screen is blank it doesn't make sense to advise you to connect an external monitor to the blue vga out plug, but you can still try that.

When all this fails you can take your machine into a repair ship where they can remove the hard drive and analyze it on another machine and see if you haven't suffered a fatal disc error that can actually recover your disc. They would also tell you if the main board has failed and give you options.

Keep this in mind if it comes to the last paragraph, the cost of repairing your older laptop may be close to the cost of a newer laptop. It is your decision to make. Don't let anyone force you into an expensive repair when you may be able to get into another decent machine, other than Toshiba of course, made by Acer.

Hope this has fixed ya.
