SOURCE: New clutch cable made gear change much worse.

Hi,

Had a recent similar problem. Fortunately, my replacement cable is adjustable. As the new cable stretched, I had to take a crowbar to the the throwout lever next to the battery and lever it back while pulling off the cable (towards the battery). I then lifted the fuse box (look out for the 10mm plastic nut that holds it in on the side by the driver's side fender) on the drivers side right in front of the windshield to reach down and pull the cable up enough to reach the adjustor. When it is high enough, release the locknut and turn the adjusting nut upwards about 4 turns (both nuts on my cable were 17mm and a "stubby" is handy but not necessary. Grab the end by the battery and, making sure it is seated on the groove on the transmission, pry the lever again with the crowbar and reseat tg
he cable end in the lever. I have had to readjust the cable twice more before it settled in a comfortableplace, but once you get the hang of it, it only takes about 10 minutes.

Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: inside driver's door handle won't open door

I have a 99 Yukon. Had the same problem. I took the door panel off and discovered that the door handle has a spring attached that appeared to degrade. Bottom line is I changed the entire handle, not too expensive, and it now works fine.

SOURCE: engine gets hoat some time, no heat from heater.

Theres a strong possibility being you just changed the coolant a few weeks ago that theres air in the cooling system not allowing the coolant to cirrculate properly, look at your top radiator hose is theres a small bleed valve at the top of the thermostat housing when the upper hose attactes to? If so loosen the bleed valve and allow the cooling system to purge the air out of the system you can tell when the air is out of the system when a steady stream of coolant starts to flow out of the bleed valve, if theres no bleed valve take the top radiator hose off of the engine side and allow the cooling system to purge the air out through the top of the engine that way, but it definatly sounds like theres air in the system not allowing for the cooling system to cool properly...

Getting hot water when shower valve is first opened.

If I understand correctly, you have single handled shower faucet.
Normally there is a wait for hot water to arrive at faucet.
But now hot water is already at shower faucet.

Single handled faucets have a mixing area inside valve where hot and cold come together before going into sink.
This mixing valve can have crossover where the hot and cold can pass through to each other even when faucet handle is off. When single handle faucets get old, this can happen.
How it happens:
For example another faucet is turned on inside house, and pressure differential between hot and cold causes hot water at shower handle to pass through mixing area and into cold water line.
So if another faucet has been run, then that lets hot flow to faulty single handled shower faucet.
To confirm this is the problem: turn on other faucet and put ear against shower faucet to listen for moving water.
This condition may also signal there is a water leak.
The problem is not harmful, but will draw cold water into water heater each time, and is energy wasteful.
Replace faucet or have plumber repair problem.

Faucet dripping

Call Price Pfister at 1-800-PFAUCET and ask them to send you a new hot and cold stem for free. These faucets are easy to repair. Here is the parts breakdown for your faucet. Turn the water supply of to the faucet. Remove the index button from the top of each handle. Unscrew the handle retaining screw. Pull the handle off. Unscrew the stems with an adjustable wrench; turn them counterclockwise. Install the new stems and reinstall the hanldes; it may take a couple of times to get them set in just the right positions. Slowly turn the water back on and open the faucet.

Three possible reasons for low pressure. 1. faucet cartridge has debris in valve body. 2. aerator has debris ,just unscrew and clean out. 3. Water valves under sink are not opened up. hope this helps

''poor pressure hot water only on new 531 series''

If you remove the supply line from the faucet and open the valve into a bucket, do you have adequate pressure? If you do, you will need to remove the hot water stem to see if something washed up into the faucet when you first turned the water on.

Loss of pressure in kitchen faucet - Price Pfister

Your problem is a simple one.

  1. Turn off water to faucet.
  2. Place a towel(s) in the base of the sink(s) to prevent any parts from going down drain.
  3. Remove the handle to the faucet. (single handle only)
  4. If not a single handle then remove spout from faucet.
  5. If a single handle remove cap carefully and any loose parts.
  6. Gently turn spout side to side while lifting to remove.
  7. You will see a hole with a very small valve where the water comes out to the spout on the base of the faucet.

  1. Remove this valve (which is a backflow preventer) and replace.
  2. Reassemble and test.
Problem solved.

Handle on faucet shuts off on its own

I had the same problem. The Price Pfister web site recommends removing the handle (unscrew the dome cap, then remove the phillips screw to get the handle off) then tightening the retaining ring (I used channel lock pliers on largest setting. It worked. However the retaining ring is plastic on some models, and they recommend replacing it with a brass one. I haven't taken that step yet, we'll see how it goes (mine is plastic).
