My Maxtor 3200 possibly has failed. The green light does not come on and my computer no longer shows it connector asa ext HD. Any recommendations.

I agree that it has failed.

Get the model-number and serial-number from the label on the disk-drive (by opening the enclosure) and use the "check warranty status" utility on Maxtor's web-site, to see if the warranty still is valid. If it is, Maxtor will repair/replace the unit, at minimal cost to you.

My Maxtor 3200 has a gren light that is now blinking and the computer cannot start the drive. Code 10. What does this mean?

I had this problem. I learned that the power supply was defective. You can purchase a 12V 2amp power supply. This solved my problem. My green light was coming on but my computer didn't recognize the drive and I got the same Code 10 cannot start drive. I purchased a 12V 3amp power supply. It doesn't hurt to have more amps but you need at least 2amps.

Maxtor personal storage 3200 - flashing green light.

Solution:
First, disconnect the power cable from the back of the external hard drive:
If the power supply LED continues to blink:
  1. Connect the power supply to a different outlet (or instead of connecting to a power strip, connect directly to an outlet in the wall).

  2. If the power supply continues to blink after changing outlets, this indicates that the power supply is defective and needs to be replaced.

  3. If the power supply stays solid, then reconnect to the external hard drive and see if the drive spins.

My Maxtor 3200 ext. drive which I had for one year now (no pbs.) not being recognized by my system and I see a Code 10 error in the Device Manager.

first you can use your troubleshooter in your device manager to find out what that code 10 error is or you can go to the maxtor website in the support or troubleshoot section and tell them your code 10 error,it might be a driver needs to be updated.

Maxtor 3200 /160gb

According to this, the device only supports Windows 2000, XP Pro and XP Home (and presumably, Vista as well).
