What is the peer board, never heard of a board in a Vizio called that
Sorry power board
Ahhh...now I understand, if it has a faint blue screen the power board wouldn't have caused that, long as it lights up some all the voltages need to be there...I would guess its a Tcon board issue, what you need to do is have the set off and release the 2 tabs on the connectors that go from the timing board to the panel, don't take them out just loosen them, then turn the TV on and move the one around that is on the left, you should see some flashes if that board is bad, if you don't see anything I'd look at the main board as being the cause
where is the Tcon board located on that certain tv

Replacing the board is much more expensive than repairing it, if the repairs can indeed be done...accordianman

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.
Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, starting the flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual
If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be
inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a
multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to
read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

Hi.
If the TV does not start with the new audio board, and if it does start with the old one, then the audio board that you recently purchased is defective.
About the board : 0500-0507-0230; that is the power board (PSU). If you could see the Vizio logo, that means that TV started, and that the power board was OK without need for testing. When the power board is defective, either the TV does not give any sign of life, or the TV goes in standby mode from start and does not wake up. In that case the led stays blinking to warn you that there is an incorrect voltage from PSU.
If the TV is freezing with Vizio logo, that means that at most the faulty part is the main board.
Also, you say that there is no backlight. No backlight means that the screen is completely dark. If there is no backlight you won't be able to see the logo or any other picture. If there is no backlight, then the problem is usually the inverter.
Here a brief article summarizing how to test PSU and inverter: How to test an LCD TV.
Here all parts for this model:GV42LHDTV.
Regard.
Ginko.
