SOURCE: lights quit

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: microwave blows fuse in microwave mode grill function ok

It is most likely the capacitor has shorted or the rectifier has shorted. Check with ohmeter, but make sure it is discharged first by shorting the capacitor with a wire.

all makes & models are fairly basic but some have 1 fuse inside the unit & some may have 2 or 3. mine had 2, one for the fan & one for the microwave functions control board. they are usually see through fuses so it's easy to tell if they're blown.you have to remove the microvave metal casing to get to them. hope this helps.

Over the range microwaveoven worked flawlessly then bang it quit.it looks like its been unpluged but no. I tested the electrica outlet and ther is power. Is there a reset button within the microwave that...

you have a blown fuse.unplug the microwave. remove the vent by unscrewing the 2 screws holding it in place. gently pull vent grill forward to remove. open the door, and remove the screw holding the control panel in place. remove the metal plate being held in place by that screw. inside that panel is your blown fuse. remove the fuse and replace. reassemble the microwave. plug it back in.

Micro wave simply quit. How an I check to see if

The fuse is located inside the microwave. You will need to remove the front panel to get to it. It will be located on the black power wire inside the microwave and installed inline. Make sure that the microwwave is unplugged before removing the front panel. Once you locate the fuse inside you will need to remove it and test it with a continuity tester to see if it is blown. If it is make sure you replace the fuse with the same amp rating you found. If the new fuse blows again then there is an electrical short somewhere inside the microwave.

I have a GE Profile spacemaker 2.0 microwave and it just quit working on me. Sounded like a fuse popped?? I verified that the electrical outlet was working. Is there a fuse to replace inside the microwave?

Hello. You have isolated the problem.

Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.
