What is the model number found in the fresh food compartment? Can you feel the compressor running? The problem could be a start relay, overload and run capacitor or a thermostat problem

You have a defrost system problem. Defrost is controlled by a timer which energizes the heater circuit. The heater circuit has a radiant or cal rod type heater which melts the frost from the coil. When the coil reaches a temperature where all ice would be gone a termination switch opens and shuts of the heater. The timer will continue to run until defrost time expires (18-22 minutes).

If you can locate the timer there is a clutch head screw to advance the timer to the defrost position. Turn the screw clockwise SLOWLY until you hear one audible click. The heaters should come on and defrost take place. If the unit restarts after the 18-22 minute period the timer is good, if it does not restart advance the screw to a second audible click and it will restart.
If you had to turn the timer the to second click to get it started cooling replace the timer.

If the unit restarted after the 18-22 minutes and defrost did not happen your problem is in the heater circuit. This would be an open heater or bad defrost terminator switch. To access the heater and defrost terminator the back panel in the freezer section must be removed. With an Ohm meter you can check the heater to see if it is good.

SOURCE: GE side by side refridgerator

YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT YOUR HEATER ELEMENT AND SENSORS ARE FUNCTIONING WELL AS THAT WILL CAUSE THE ICE BUILD UP AND THE UNIT NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. GOODLUCK.MOHAMED

SOURCE: Fridge does not stay cold

If the compressor is running continually, could be short of gas , or a compressor problem, ie not pumping properly, make sure it has plenty of ventilation

Subzero refrigerator not getting cold

if both the freezer and fridge are getting warm you either have a bad condenser fan motor or the coil has to be cleaned.this is how i do it for my customers,i have a shop vac a small one it's called a stinger, with a brush attachment i clean the right side of the coil vacing it with the brush, then i shut down the machine, put a towel across the opening but first remove the white cover like you did and then set the vac to blow by sticking the hose on the other side of the vac and blow through the coil, the towel blocks all the dust so it doesn't fly into the kitchen, then vac up anything that got loose,do it a few more times and then go on the other side where the fan is and blow it through that way,the coil gets filled with dust and just vacumming the outside just ain't good enoughmalso if there's grease on the coil you can spray it down with grease lightning or any grease remover you like, then hit it with water from another spray bottle and blow it through again, you have to do this at least once a year to keep it clean, then get a flash light or drop light, stick it in on the right hand side and look through the fan opening,if you can see the light shining through the coil is clean, turn it back on and make sure the fan is blowing strong and you should be fine.hope this helps

My fridgedaire side by side freezer's condensor is freezing over and warming the fridge side, I defrosted it the fridge side is keep cool enough to keep food but the freezer side will not get cold to...

Hello, This is a type of faulty you can handle yourself, most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.
I hope this will help in solving the fault.....

clean the coil behind the fridge or under the fridge (where ever they are) and make sure both fans are running, the one in the freezer and the one underneath

I have a Kenmore Cold Spot fridge, freezer on top. Fridge is warm, and freezer keeps freezing up on sides and bottom. I cleaned it all out, defrosted it, and it still freezes up and fridge still won't get...

Is this a self defrost model? Frost inside the freezer could be an air leak around the door gasket. Remove the back panel in the freezer and completely defrost the coils. Is the fan running in the freezer. That will make the frig not be cool. With the door closed peek in the gasket to make sure the light is shutting off, this will warm a frig also.

Kenmore Coldspot side by side fridge/freezer no longer cold.

The black thing is the compressor. It should run warm but not hot. This usually indicates it's time to clean the condenser coils under the refrigerator. Try using a long soft brush and your vacuum cleaner.

Fridge and freezer not cold and frozen up

Can you remove the back panel inside the freezer and defrost the coils. Use a shop vac with the hose in the blow position instead of the vacuum position. And blow on the coils to defrost quickly. Hair dryers work also but prolonged use will burn up hair dryers. Now turn back on and see if the inside the freezer fan works. It should be running to keep the coils from freezing up. Also could be defrost timer. But this will be enough to get you going. Let me know how it goes. ken

Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator too cold

On a fridge freezer only the fridge temperature is monitored. In a cold location the fridge might not even need cooling and the freezer would get too warm but the thing won't care.

If the fridge sensor sees it as too warm then it will keep the motor running and the first thing to get really cold is the freezer.

Remember the freezing part is not temperature controlled ion a fridgefreezer.

Refrigerator and freezer

Is the fan behind the back panel underneath
running (condenser fan) may be dead or clogged
with something if not thats the problem if it is
running take a vac attachment and clean
the dust or blow the dust from underneath
the refrigerator (after turning it off)dont bend
anything,After verifying the condenser fan runs
and cleaning the condenser try it out

If there is no improvement and,
If the system has not been opened before I
would say there is a leak in the system
(low charge) Requires the
attention of a service person
