Switch replacement for a Tech solution TS8000

LOOK INTO WHERE THE PAPER IS FED... THERE IS A TINY SWITCH THAT THE PAPER TRIPS WHEN THE PAPER IS FED INTO THE SHREDDER. THIS SWITCH IS SHORTED OUT OR STUCK INTERNALLY FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON.

In case of a paper jam , which may occur if the shredder is pushed beyond its specified capabilities, press the control switch to the off [O] position and empty the basket if full. Then:
1) Press and hold control switch in reverse [R] position and attempt to back paper out of shredder.
2) If shredder jams in reverse mode, press control switch to automatic [I] position and attempt to continue shredding operation.
3) If shredder jams again, alternate control switch slowly between reverse [R] and automatic [I] positions to attempt to move jammed paper completely through shredder.
If you are unable to clear the jam using this method, turn off and unplug the shredder; remove the wastebasket from cabinet and carefully remove any paper extending below the cutting cylinders; empty the waste basket; insert waste basket and repeat jam clearing procedure.

Stinks... but that's the way it is...

Do not open shredder head to attempt repair: It could expose

you to electric shock and will void your warranty.

- Check to see if bin is full. If bin is full, empty bin and

replace. Follow instructions under maintenance.

- Oil cutting cylinders.

Shredder squeaks, grinds or runs

Symptom Remedy

- Make sure shredder is plugged in.

- Make sure power switch is in "Auto" position.

- Make sure bin is fully closed.

- Check to see if either bin is overfull which could result

in a jam. If so, empty.

- If you are unable to clear the jam, turn off and unplug

the shredder. Slowly and carefully pull the remaining

paper out. Forcefully removing the paper is likely to

cause irreparable damage to the shredder.

Product Information

This product is designed to shred paper, staples, small paper clips, credit cards, CDs and DVDs.

It is not intended to shred large paper clips, continuous forms, adhesive labels, transparencies,

newspaper, cardboard or any other plastic other than credit cards. Using it for these purposes

It is important to empty the waste bin regularly to ensure the smooth operation of the

cutting cylinders. The shredder will not operate when the bin is full. Regular oiling

is also necessary for proper performance. It is recommended to use the shredder oil

every few weeks.

As a test try shredding into a small box or even the cabinet itself with the bag holder and bag removed. Just to see if these are causing the problem.
The bag Full switch is activated by an arm which is pushed up by the pressure of the shredded paper in the bag as it fills.
When a sheet of paper is shredded, after the trail end of the paper goes past the "eyes" the machine should still continue to run on for a few seconds to drive the shredded paper out.

Common solution is to clean upper and lower sensors with cotton swab. If it still jams, then you will have to remove the top carefully and clean all paper shreds out of the housing. The paper shreds are most likely packed in the housing shroud and jamming or overloading the motor.

I have a TS2500 and it behaves in a similar fashion. It sounds like you may have a paper jam keeping the paper sensor switch turned on. The first thing to do is make sure that the container that collects the shredded paper isn't full. Everytime I fill mine up I have this problem. Emptying the bin and pulling the shredded paper from the bottom of the unit usually allows it to automatically shut off. If that isn't enough, make sure that you don't have a paper jam in the cutter rollers. The most important thing you can do is make sure the unit is unplugged before doing anything with the shredding mechanism.

You likely have a photo sensor that detects the paper and it is dirty.
It is likely covered with paper dust (hopefully only on the outside)
Locate the sensor and wipe it off or just wipe the entire throat area.

I personally work with Fellowes brand shredders, but it sounds like you have a paper feed sensor issue. This may be a mechanical or electronic sensor located in the center of the paper feed slot. If it is electronic it may just need cleaning(qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol. If it is a mechanical sensor check to make sure it has not been broken or it may be stuck because of paper that has become wedged behind it(you may need to jiggle the switch a few times to free it). If none of this works you may have a burned out switch or a bad pc board, contact manufacturer for more info.
