SOURCE: Chronotherm III Thermostat Completely Blank Screen, No Heat

One of two things either the disply has gone out which is likely as it is a common failure for that thermostat or your heating unit is not sending control power. the older chronotherms were system (24volt ac) powered the new hardware/box store units are battery powered. Either way display should not be blank with fresh batteries. to get heat on remove the thermostat jumper or twist together the wire from the R terminal with the wire from the W terminal. note the color of each wire for later reference, heat up house disconnect wires from each other and go purchase a new thermostat

Thermostat is working, but display is blank

My thermostat used to go blank when heating. It was caused by the overheat protector inside the heater. That switch cuts the power to the heater and the thermostat. The heater could also be burned out. If it's a 24Volt system, the power supply could be bad.

There is power coming in the Honeywell thermostat RLV430 however the display pad is always blank. Sometimes it goes on and keep flashing on and off and then goes blank again. I changed the thermostat...

Richard, when you say base board, do you mean the subbase where the control wires connect? I am thinking you just changed out the front part which is the stat, leaving the old subbase on? If this is the case, make sure you have 24 volts at the R and one of the other terminals, but change out the subbase as this is where your problem would be, all of the displays circuitry is in that section of the thermostat. This will solve your problem. I take it this stat has no batteries for the display? If it does, change them out with good new ones. Please contact me if you need more help. Use the comment box, so I can check it when I can.

My air handler isn't working, red light is flashing so it appears to have power, but the thermostat LED display is blank????

Does the thermostat run off battery power or does the transformer supply power to the thermostat. You can check this by removing the thermostat face and checking for a wire connected to the C terminal. If there is no wire there then it is battery only. Replace the batteries. If you have the brand and model # of the thermostat, you can do a Google search for the owner's manual. Of course there is always the possibility that the thermostat has gone bad.

Amana thermostat, is there a battery to change?

No. They may not be batteries. Many electronic thermostats use capacitors that are not removable. Some thermostats still use batteries but not all. Check with the user's manual of your thermostat for detailed information on use and troubleshooting.

Good Luck! :-)
