Hope it is light weight leather. It should not be used on heavy leather.

Use a brand new heavy needle (leather). Avoid using upholstery or thicker thread as that sometimes does not feed well through the needle eye. Set it for a longer stitch. And you might want to adjust the presser foot pressure to accommodate the thicker fabric under the presser foot. Also, a leather foot, roller foot, or walking foot may be helpful--if if not available, try using parchment paper (or something similar) on the surface of the leather to help it slide under the presser foot..

Here's how you set the timing od the Machine alright:
1. Take the side plate off, take the needle plate off.
2. Take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine. 3. Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line.
4. Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was.
At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.
This should set the timing of the machine perfect....

SOURCE: I have an old singer sewing machine 401A. The top

You can download a manual for $10 at www.sewingmanuals.com and it should help you. A couple of suggestions though, is your needle inserted correctly? Flat side facing the rear of the machine, fresh needle? Threaded correctly on top and bobbin area? Is your thread good not too old and the same type in bobbin and top? Did you leave a long enough tail in the bobbin thread? 3-4 inches which you hold with your left hand. Is the thread in the bobbin unwinding the right way? Are you turning the handwheel towards you, not away from you at least two revolutions or until you see the thread loop? Try these suggestions, and I am sure one will work unless your timing is off and it needs professional service.

Does this machine singer 9410 able to sew leather

Yes, the Singer 9410 can sew some leather: suede and lined kidskin leather. Use a 2032 needle with either 50 mercerized cotton or synthetic thread silk. See the needle and thread chart on page 44 of the manual. The manual is available from Singer's support page, https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/outdated_product/SINGER%207029_7033_%207035%20and%209410%20Sewing%20Machine.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Singer 99 not feeding heavy thread.

Unfortunately, your domestic machine was not made to sew leather. It can probably sew lighter weight leather with a lighter weight thread. Your thread is most likely too heavy for the machine you are using so it is not able to pick it up properly.

Singer 401a. Sews material fine. Using a leather needle/machine goes thru material with ease but threads do not stitch together. Just pokes a row of holes. What needs to be adjusted??

Since I can't examine your machine, I'll give you some suggestions. You may find some of them obvious, but these are things I have found when repairing various machines.
First and most obvious, make sure the needle inserted correctly. The 401a uses a flat shank needle such as a 15x1, 130h/705. The shank needs to face to the rear with the groove in the shaft running all the way down the front of the needle to the eye. In backwards (yes, it is possible to do), it won't form a loop and the hook won't pick up the top thread.
Second, you will need to check both hook to needle timing and needle distance. You can visually check if the timing is close by turning the wheel until the needle is in the bottom of it's travel. Then raise it until the very front of the hook is behind the needle and not sticking out. The hook should be above the needle eye. If it isn't or very close, your timing is probably out.
The needle distance is the horizontal distance between the needle and the hook. The hook should be very close (usually .01mm).
With leather the loop may be smaller and the hook just can't catch it due to one of the above conditions.

Singer 7258 will not sew automatic buttonholes. The needle goes up and down, but that's all. The buttonhole lever is down, so that's not it. Please help.

if the sewing machine is set on the buttonhole setting then it's
possible that the sewing machine motherboard has a problem.
or a part could be damaged, the machine may need some type
of adjustment.

My singer HD 110 will sew a bit then suddenly the needle will slow down to a stop & the handwheel seems stuck, yet the motor is still running.

Hello there! Make sure your pattern selector is compatible with the presser foot. Good idea to test with a straight stitch setting: Tension: 4. Width:4-5. Length 5 after you insert a new needle and re-thread machine. Your previous needle may have become bent when machine malfunctioned. Use fabric compatible with needle size. Always raise presser foot when threading! Then always lower presser foot before sewing. Remember to use blue tip scarf needles with synthetic fabric silk thread 50. Purster thread 50, mercerized cotton thread 50-60; #11 or #9 for fine or lightweight fabric with silk thread 50 or fine Pollyester thread; #18 leather needle for leather, #14 - 16 denim . Jimmy Sweep out shuttle carefully with small brush for broken threads and lint.
