If it is Windows XP then install the latest chipset drivers for the notebook. This will solve the problem.May I know the version of windows you are using?

Your will need to do two things - (1) access the HP.COM website - software and drivers update - put your product number ( the PN number under the serial number on your ID white label ) in the ID number or hit the detect my system - that will send you to the relevant drivers website - download the chipset drivers and install - also update the bios to the latest version. If the problem persists call the hp help desk on 131047. Also check the pen drive on another machine.

For Windows XP CLICK HERE In Windows 7 the driver installs automatically I would suggest uninstalling all drivers for the network adapter then reboot and allow the system to find the NIC again. If this is Windows XP uninstall all drivers for the NIC, reboot, and install the above driver. If it is Windows 7 uninstall the drive, reboot and allow device manager to locate the driver itself.
Hi,
Before i can suggest any steps i need to know since when u have this pblm and what are the softwares and hardwares you had installed recently, please revert back with details for more assistance......:)
Try another pendrive and see if the same is working.
PLease make sure if your pendrive is USB 2.0 compliant.
If it came with an installation CD/CVD, install the same and try.
Cheers,
I would check the bios settings to make sure the motherboard settings relating to PnP are correct. Try playing around with those bios settings and see what works for you. Also try different usb ports, i have the same problems sometimes with certain ports on my desktop computer, try all of them at the front or the back of the computer. I would check the Compaq Presario website for drivers not AMD, installing new ones is a good idea just to make sure its not a driver issue.
