Statins" is a class of drugs that lowers the level of cholesterol in the blood by reducing the production of cholesterol by the liver. (The other source of cholesterol in the blood is dietary cholesterol.) Statins block the enzyme in the liver that is responsible for making cholesterol. This enzyme is called hydroxy-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase). Scientifically, statins are referred to as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
Statins helps reduce the plaque build up that caused heart attacks and strokes...
It's important to continue taking your meds even if you're cholesterol levels out. Never stop meds until you talk to your doctor.. Good luck and health...

Iam taking Rosuvastatin 5mg and crampeze have sore muscles back pain also in my chest

Many people don't tolerate statin drugs well. One of the most common complaints is muscle/joint soreness. Sometimes a person can take this class of drugs for many years before developing this intolerance. You need to see your doc and explain when you started having these pains. There are other alternatives out there which accomplish, perhaps not as effectively, the same thing - to lower your cholesterol. Perhaps he can recommend some other cocktail. The same thing happened to me after using simvastatin for many years. I now take folic acid, sublingual B12 and B6 instead. They don't keep my cholesterol nearly as low as the simvastatin, but I don't have the muscle/joint aches I had before. See your doc. I am in no way urging you to do the same, but there are alternatives. . .
