could be one of three things
1) the belt is broken to the main gearbox (fairly easy to replace if you can get one)
2) a gear has slipped or broken which means none of the front end will operate.(I have this problem and cannot get the gear body to open)
3) If the top and front worms are turning then the problem is with the planetary gear which again is fairly easy to replace

SOURCE: Mine is a Chef Stand Mixer but really don't know model no. Where to find?
This kind of unit are lubricated with grase paste. If the unit stays
inactive for a long time, or if the motor and gears are overheating the
grease paste gets melted into thin oil, and that will cause leaks.
To lubricate the unit, you need to spread again the grease in the gearbox, using special
foodsafe grease paste.
Disassemblying the gear box is not that easy, you will need previous
experience and a gear puller to do the job properly and safely.
This appliances are also held with security screws to prevent the users
from taking apart the unit, and can only be disassembled using a Security screwdriver tip.
The grease can be purchased here, check at the bottom of the page: Kenwood chef food mixer Grease.

I can only imagine you have a shop display machine and they took the plug off. Otherwise it should be obvious.

I live in the US and have an old Kenwood KM230 Mixer that I absolutely love. Unfortunately I can not locate a replacement for the spashguard that has now cracked. The old splashguard item # 27215/31227 is the replacement spashguard....any solutions
