How to re-attach the metal spring on a vintage Braun Electric Razor with Trimmer Model #5564?

We took off the casing to clean Grandpa's vintage Electric Razor and when we removed the trimmer plate, the spring came out as well. We have no idea how to re-attach it. Please help.

I struggled with this for a while too till I found a diagram. Place the wire spring and the flat detente spring (all the way to the bottom of the slot) in as shown in this diagram. When the trimmer plate goes all the way in, the spring will snap into its correct final position. Lee

SOURCE: My Braun 5564 electric/rechargeable razor will no

You will need to replace the battery pack. Depending on when your shaver was made, it may have one of two different battery types. You will ned to look inside to see which you need before ordering.

To open, remove the two round screw covers on the bottom of the shaver. Remove screws to remove bottom of shaver. The outer case will then slide off the bottom. Push the trimmer up to be abl to take the circuit board out. BE CAREFUL not to detach trimmer oryou will not likely get it back on yourself.

I mistakenly connected a two prong nose trimmer plug to my Braun S5. I don't recall if there was a noticeable reaction. But I do know that my S5 will not accept a charge.

Models numbers are useful in such questions but it looks like one might be 12 volts and the other 6 volts.

I have a Braun 760 razor. The two electric contacts on the charging/cleaning base no longer make good contact with the razor. One of them seems to have some corrosion on it and prevents the razor from...

Useaa good emery paper to clean the surface of the contact, use a good contact oil to rub off the rust or dirt in the section. now repeat till it shine, do the same to the other end , Now since there is alwyas some moisture present the pins must be cleaned out after very use.

Trimmer won't work

There's a post inside the trimmer that provides a location for counterforce when the teeth move; this is either weak, designed to break after time, or breaks simply because it's not designed to be opened/closed while running. It's relatively easy--if you're patient--to take the razor/trimmer apart and see the problem. A friend and I drilled an appropriately-sized hole through the back of the trimmer at the snapped-post location (which, if one looks at the outside casing of the trimmer is at the bottom of the indented arc), used a dremel tool to cut off an appropriately-sized metal rod, inserted it in the hole, then sealed it with hard (probably model) putty. Years later, it still works fine and--most importantly--I didn't have to buy a new razor.

Braun Syncro 7680 Electric Razor

Managed to fix it - actually was a 7680. Only do this if you:

1. have a small screwdriver set

2. are handy putting little delicate plastic pieces and springs together again

3. are prepared to face the possibility that you might break the shaver entirely

4. you are out of warranty so you don't care if you invalidate it

THE PROBLEM is caused by a small flat metal assembly that acts as a spring to hold the blue button in place. That is held by 4 small glue posts. The glue breaks down, the flat spring falls out of place and the blue button is no long in the right place.

TO OPEN UP THE SHAVER

a. gently remove the plastic cover around the electrical socket underneath, using a small flathead screwdriver to pry it open

b. the two metallic sides of the shaver can be pulled away starting at the bottom of the shaver

c. uncrew the four screws on the underside of the shaver

d. remove cutter block, battery/lcd block (make sure you don't lose the grommet around the lcd display1.gif

e. pull the spring and little plastic latch off the underside of the switch, make sure you remember how to put it back (took me almost 20 mins to figure out how to get that back afterwards)

f. slide the switch all the way up and pull it off the slide - you might need a little gentle force and a flathead screwdriver to coax it off - be careful you don't break anything here

g. remove the trimmer from the rest of the switch

h. put the blue piece back in place (mine had fallen out), then glue the flat metal spring back in place. I smeared brush-on crazy glue on the flat surfaces to hold it in place, I would imagine a four drops of reasonably strong glue on each of the glue posts would work best. Wait for the glue to dry and achieve strength.

i. slide the trimmer back into place, then the plastic latch and spring - this is the tricky part. Make sure the switch can slide on/off in all positions properly.

j. put the display/battery & cutter block back in place. put the back of the shaver on, hold the shaver together with your fingers and test the switch works in all positions without jamming. If so put the four screws back, followed by the metallic sides followed by the plastic cover of the electrical socket.

GOOD LUCK!!
