Use a site like servicemanuals.com and get the service literature for your make/model.Do NOT perform factory reset procedure-that is reserved for when certain parts are changed. You will need the access sequence, adjust info and add to memory step for servicer convergence.Keep in mind--you may have defective convergence IC's.If so,you will have difficulty w/alignment.Use OEM or better IC's no generics!! They won't hold up.

Auto head alignment

#1 of 2

Carryout a Manual Print Head Alignment If Possible.

Manual Print Head Alignment

If the results of Automatic Print Head Alignment are not satisfactory, follow the procedure below to perform Manual Print
Head Alignment.

1 Make sure that the machine is turned on, and then load three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or the Cassette.

Important. You cannot print the print head alignment pattern if paper of size other than A4 or Letter is loaded. Be sure to use A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

2 Open the Paper Output Tray, and then open the Output Tray Extension.
(1) Put your finger in the rounded indent of the Paper Output Tray and open it gently.
(2) Open the Output Tray Extension.
3 Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source where you have loaded paper.
4 Select Settings on the HOME screen.
5 Select Maintenance, then press the OK button.
The Maintenance screen is displayed.
6 Select Manual head align, then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen is displayed.

Note. If you select Head alignment print, the machine exits the process after printing the current head position adjustment values.

7 Select Yes, then press the OK button.
8 When the Print Head alignment pattern is printed, select Yes, then press the OK button.
9 Look at the printout. From the patterns, select the most even, least irregular patterns for each column and input their numbers. Press the OK button.
(1) Select a column to input the pattern number.
(2) Use the or button to input the number of the pattern.

Perfect Focus

Perfect "FOCUS" is a misnomer.Convergence is the real issue.Enter servicer mode--perform accurate convergence alignment procedure--activate perfect focus as last step to 100% alignment. If you have a High-Definition source, check procedure for that.
