Hi Darren, I don't really know what you are asking. Yes, the scope normally works with the MacBook and with MacBookPro, which ARE computers. Currently my scope does not work with its friend the MacBookPro and I've determined the cord is not the issue.

Most likely the pool motor or other devices are making the powerline noisy. I suggest either getting an x 10 tester or unpluggin hosehold devices until you find teh source of the noise.

Are you using an external power supply for the disk? If not, you might be overloading the USB port. It should not happen, but USB ports are limited in the amount of power they can output. Especially laptops might face such problems.
Do other USB devices still work on those USB ports? If so then the port is at least not broken.
Sometimes you can uninstall and reinstall the USB hubs and controller devices in the Device Manager to fix USB problems.

Barrel fuses used to be made of aluminum and corrode on the copper contacts. Pull fuses and replace. 10-15 dollars now will help get rid of electrical gremlins.

I had this problem as well but it wouldn't work at all when i got it however i discovered you have to use the regular controller with the mic. just plug in the mic and turn on the reg controller and whaa laa it works. i was on my way to the store to return it and stumbled accross this accidentally but it works i didn't have to return it at all hope that helps. as for the quiting all at once when it was working i have no idea how to fix that

Sorry, that was a misprint it was meant to ask if the Proscope worked with "other" MacBooks or computers (spellcheck can be fickle). Have you cross tested against other computers to see if the issue was with the imager or lens? Have you upgraded your OS recently? We have found that we see issues like this when major OS upgrades are installed. For example High Sierra has moved from HFS to APFS, and that can cause issues with some of the drivers. Have you tried downloading new drivers?
