ERROR CODE 041 ON PANAFAX

There is a fix for this. But only a Panasonic tech has access to the parts for the fix. The toner sensor underneath must be moved closer to the cartridge, you are not low on toner.

We have a Panasonic Panafax UF-790

It could be a refilled Kyocera KM-F650 cartridge in a Panasonic UG-5510 box.

They look identical, but are configured differently.

You need to try another cartridge as it appears it is not a machine problem.

Changing cartridge

The cartridge is probably not seating correctly in the machine. These cartridges are made with a plastic flashing on the drum shield that mates with a sensor actuator in the machine. Problem is, Panasonic made the same machine with sensor actuators in slightly different places for machines made in different parts of the world. This is so you couldn't use cartridges made in different places or for similar print engines such as HP or Lexmark, which are cheaper. You will have to fiddle with this so that the actuator is tripped, I usually remove the drum guard complete with springs and defeat the actuator with a rolled up ball of paper.

Problem

The cover may not be prperly closed. Is it difficult to close? Sometimes the cartridge may not be inserted correctly so that the cover won't close properly.
