I have the G.E 6 outlet power stake. When I turn the dial to set the time the whole mechanism moves and I have to turn it around several times and I mean several to get to the time I want set.

Is this a flaw and I do not see a on off switch anywhere!!

SOURCE: ac power

There are a couple of fuses in that power supply. But if it is a 412 or an F12 most likely you have developed cracks in the solder connections of that particular LVPS.
I would recommend replacing the LVPS.
Roughly a 250 dollar price on that power supply.

SOURCE: RCA 36' tube tv won't turn on

possible that a fuse blew while transferring tv, most like to happen despite care in handling if tv was on for a while, kind of like moving a light bulb that is hot and suddenly filament breaks when you move the bulb slightly. Other than that I'd say it's a good time to get a new tv just in time too for the digital transition.

SOURCE: how do we turn off the POWER SAVING MODE on the monitor screen?

Try going into your Start Menu then going into your control panel...then clicking on your "power options"....then switching the options to 'always on'..if this does not work..(as it seems you may not be seeing this because the monitor is in power saving mode) try fiddling with the setup option on your monitor and find a possible powersaving mode enabled function and disable it. every monitor is different so I couldn't really help you here...if this doesn't yield results try another monitor to see if it's the monitor having the problems or the computers video card...the video card could very well be the culprit...

SOURCE: Wont turn on; remote/tv power switch inoperative

hi I am Vortash .. burning smells usually mean Power supply or line output .. flyback problems .. this is probably one of those jobs only an engineer should look at .. voltages on the line can exceed 400 volts and are highly dangerous the line output from the transformer depending on the type of tube can be up to 25,000 volts .. so best leave this one to the proffesionals Regards Vortash

How do I set the timer? I can not get it to go on and off when I want it to?

You posted under Woods plug-in timer.
Several brands sell identical or similar timer.
If this is not your timer, look through following page to identify your timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

Add a comment any time.

To set timer.
Rotate dial until current time lines up with arrowhead; when plugged in, the dial rotates
Notice 24-48 gray-colored segments located around edge of dial; each segment is 1 hour
Segment pulled up = lights OFF
Segment down = lights ON
Some brands, the segment-up is ON instead of OFF

Notice override switch located top of timer, move switch to TIMER for programs to run.
Plug lamp into timer, plug timer into wall
Lamp must be turned-on

If your timer is not operating, then timer could be defective.

Check the following:
Light is turned to ON position.
Light bulb is not burned out.
Current time lines up with arrowhead located on inner dial.
Override button on top of timer is moved all the way over to TIMER.
Receptacle has power.
Circuit analyzer shows circuit is good.
Segments are pulled all the way up (around 1/4 inch or a bit less)
Dial is rotating as time passes.
If all these things check out and timer is still not functioning, then timer is defective.
