SOURCE: Screen goes black and power light goes out after a few minutes

it would seem that one of the internal components has failed / overheated Dont open the rear of the monitor !

if pos drop it into your nearest pc repair shop and have is serviced it may just need cleaned to free it from dust build up
on the inner parts this may be causing the unit to over heat

SOURCE: emachine running SLOW and Freezes - 1 year old

Here are some suggestions: First of all . Do you have an anti virus installed on your husband's machine ? Viruses can slow the machine and even kill it permanently ( so be careful) . Just install an anti virus and you'll solve the problem . If you are already have an anti virus , then just run a full system scan and watch what will happen and follow the recommended steps that will be given by the anti virus [ There are a lot of anti virus softwares in the market ] but if you suspect that your system is already infected i recommend you to use (Avast professional edition) because it can make a boot scan , that means after you install it , it will ask you if you want to make a boot scan , just agree with it and it will reboot the system and start a boot time scanning , meanwhile you should watch it and give it the right orders if it detected a virus infection . Here is another suggestion : There is a certain software you could install it . This software can help your machine and detect any problem on your husband's computer but viruses . this software is called (TuneUp utilities) . You can download it from here www.tune-up.com . just try it and you'll be satisfied with result . if that didn't help just contact me again and i'll help you as possible as i can .
good luck .

My LG crtv comes up and few minutes shut down

It has very old components and is in need of repairs and some tlc.
Take it to an old fashioned TV repair shop, find an engineer who is over 50 years old and you should stand a chance of success.
You can then look forward to large electricity bills from using it.

5 yr old tv goes through cycle and tries to come on, eventually does but after many tries.

My sony did almost the exact same thing. I removed the bulb & cleaned all the dust out of the cooling ducts & the screen on the bulb was full of dust. That bought me about a month, then I replaced the bulb & haven't had a problem since(over a year ago). Just make sure you NEVER touch the glass of the new bulb with your hands, oil on your skin will greatly shorten the bulb life! I found a bulb at a local electronics store for under $200.00... don"t forget to clean dust from cooling ducts,& make sure cooling fan is working, bulb gets extremely hot!

Hi Thanks for your question
What i would recommend to do is in order to return your system to working state is to use System Restore tool. To use it please follow this.
1. When starting System press F8 key few times till you are shown some options. 2. One of the options should be Safe Mode please choose it and press enter 3. Once safe mode is loaded you will be asked if you want to use system recovery or just use safe mode 4. Click no to run System Restore 5. Once system restore is started from calendar showed choose the system restore point when system was working correctly 5. Press next and then next again 6. In few minutes your system should restart and work as normal
Good luck an please let us know if this was helpful

Emachines monitor goes black while CPU is still working

This PC was sold new day1, in 2009 (a bad year)
and as such had (per your manual) has toxic mercury CCFL background tube lamps at the LCD screen that do just exactly as told so very well.
and PC means Personal Computer
and CPU means central processing unit, a chip a USA invention !
when the screen is black we use the flashlight test (uk torch , burn free, lol.)
point it here.
see data the CCFL? yes, are dead and the do fail intermittent or by hot and cold room. or dead or dim or got yellow for white tinged.

flash-glow-magic2-undefined-undefined-0_1.jpg the problem is bad hardware and googling finds endless geeks that do not understand hardware at all, or little (i call em bit flippers)
Too bad all makers of PC and monitors did not put screen test mode button on the PC, that glows the back lamps
in our shop we use HV CCFL tester to find that truth easy.

the monitor is bad on the desktop PC
if you test the monitor on 2nd PC it fails
if you the failing PC with known good monitor the PC passes all test.
now you learn 3 simple tests, of vast.
but in order based on AGE

big clue #2 is monitor newer showed its ERROR NO SIGNAL or NO connection error, so that clue means PC did not die the monitor did.
no signal , no connection, no sync, or over-range errors never seen.
fans normal. blowing. in PC is clue 3 (and all LED you told too)

My computer wont start up

First try pressing F2 at start up to see if you can get to setup. Also pressing F12 may get you a boot menu. If cd is already set as first boot you may get a chance to boot from a Windows cd. The idea here is to get to a minimal Windows configuration like setup or safe mode (F8) to see if this is a hardware or operating system fault. Two common issues with eMachines are power supply problems where repetitive reboots can actually fry the motherboard or if the PC has a few years use the CMOS battery. Steve Medley

Zenith 27" TV

I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.

Emachine 5210

Emachines used to use a poor quality power supply made by Bestec, I believe the quality is supposed to have improved in the last few years but inconsidering the number of dead Emachines that wind up in my workshop I doubt it.
The problem you have is that being a poor quality power supply there is a very high risk that it damaged the motherboard when it went out.
If you can borrow a power supply just to test with all the beter BUT be carefull some Emachines are proprietary and the main motherboard plug is not always wired in the standard way.
Check here for a replacement power supply if you can prove your motherboard to be OK.

Have a look on this site for examples of standard and proprietary power supply wiring colours.
