One year old vizio 4k 50 inch smart tv. Picture is good with sound. Model is D50U-D1. This is not a vertical issue. Graphic distortion lines run across the screen. Large horizontal line rolls from the botton to top. Has good lighting in all areas. No led's have been put in, but do have them. Every board has been replaced at the back.
This sounds like a panel issue unfortunately, if its under warranty or you purchased an extended warranty great, if not your kind of SOL
Testimonial: "Thanks Larry:::I figured as such. I will try one more attempt by pressing down on each strap that is wired at the bottom of this tv to the panel screen. Sometimes these connection come loose and create lines running in different directions on the screen. If no success, I will strip the tv, This was a refurb to begin with, so I don't have much into it. I had actually given it to someone else and the problem occurred with them."

Yes, definitely worth fixing. The problem lies in the vertical deflection voltage-doubler circuit. The usual fault is a single capacitor of 100uF/35V that has failed. It is normally connected to a rectifier diode right at the vertical IC. Replacing the capacitor (no more than USD4.00 in price) usually gets it working perfectly again. If you are finicky around technical work, then a reputable local repair shop in your locality should do it quickly for you and charge only labour.

It ended up being the Verizon Fios box. We recycled it and the picture stopped rolling. Thank you for being here to help. If I have any future questions, I'll definitely use your site.

You have bad capacitors and possibly a vertical IC that is going bad. And check for bad grounds in and around the IC and caps!

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the issue with Y board and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and to check them you’ll have to open the back of the unit. Once you have opened the back also check for any blown/bulged capacitors. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
