Seems the wifi controller in the printer is fried. This worked for me.
Power on
Press Home button repeatedly while the unit is powering up.
When the menu appears hit these items quickly
1. Wireless Menu Icon (wifi icon)
2. Wireless Menu Button
3. Turn Wireless On/Off Button
4. Off Button

You have about 2.5 seconds to do this so it likely will take a few tries. When you have successfully disabled the wifi, the printer menues will work and the initializing sequence will finally complete.

You will have to hardwire the printer to an ethernet network or use some sort of wifi to ethernet adapter if you want to print over the network but the printer still works.

Well we can check and see if the printer is able to run an engine test. This is how you can run this test;

  1. Turn the printer around so the back of the machine is facing you.
  2. Remove the Engine etest button acess door. This is located in the bottom center of the back.
  3. Push the botton once while the printer is on. The printer should print a page with colored horizontal lines.
If the printer is able to print this page there is a very good indication the problem revolves around the PCA formatter board.
The Firmware might be outdated and causing this problem. Worst case scenario the board might be faulty, in that case your better off buying a new machine, since the cost to replace the board will be higher than that to replace this machine.

My HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw does not make copies

Try to soft reset the printer by switching it off and disconnecting all the cables and switch off the printer and press power button for 60 seconds and restart the printer and check for errors.

Open firmware panel of the printer and check for the updates, if found install the updates and restart the computer.

Check for paper jams and obstructions in the printer.

Won't initialize or start

Hi Kathleen Morris,

I would be happy to help you with your Officejet Pro 276dw. I understand from your description that is gets stuck in a loop and will not start or initialize.

I suggest using the following link to ensure you have the latest firmware update: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5273948&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4182

Also, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

I hope this helps.
