The above solution does not work on an E6400. Any fix regarding removal of battery, shorting pins together, etc does not work. However, what does work is to use the Dell Asset/Service Tag BIOS Reset Tool that is available on Torrent Sites. Boot the CD image and when you are asked if you want to delete/change the service tag select "Y". When asked for the new service tag number re-enter your current service tag. Then the tools erases the BIOS and inputs the new service tag. A by-product of this process is that the BIOS master password is removed from the BIOS.
Kindly tell me the solution of remove or break the password of dell E6400 because i've lost it, Kindly help me if it possible
For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
Then it not want password.
I had this problem on an E6400 I purchased from eBay. Ugly. I could boot the machine into Windows 7 without any issues. However, the BIOS was locked. I contacted the folks and Mastermind IT and paid them $20.00 via PayPal. Within minutes they sent me a "master" password that unlocked the machine. It worked and I can change the BIOS now.
Note that I submitted the form at 11:00 PM on a Friday night. The service might be a bot though.

will solve your issue, if you are willing to pay $20, after trying everything imaginable I paid and sent the 2a7b servicetag for my Dell Latitude E6400, it took about 48 hours before I got email with new Bios Password, and it worked, I am 100% satisfied, thank you MastermindIT,
