Have the part but when I snap it on it does not line up with the machine needle hole?
Am assuming it does not match the needle eye because the needle eye is too low. Raise the needle to its highest and the threader should match it.
P.S.--to thread a needle manually, lick your finger and swipe it across the back of the needle's eye. Then aim the thread tip above the needle eye (there is a groove down the front) and follow the groove down. when the thread gets to the eye, it will slip right through.
It would probably be quicker and easier to continue using the cheap and very efficient hand held needle threader most of the rest of the world uses when it can no longer see very well. To be honest I have been around them all my life and have never seen a sewing machine with a needle threader, I didn't know there was such a thing...
SOURCE: Tension Problem on Pfaff 2034, bobbin loops
Rule of thumb.. Loops on the bottom, problem on the top. Loops on the top, problems on the bottom.
Set your upper tension at 4, and rethread the machine from the top. Just before you thread the needle, but the presser foot down. If the thread pulls right thru easily, then the thread is not thru the tension wheel right. Because, if you can't pull the thread thru with the presser foot down, you have it threaded right.

Here is the link for your PFAFF 2030 - 2040. It should be covered in this repair manual.
The likely answer is that the needle threader is out of its place. They are pretty delicate and subject to bending. Also, I wouldn't think the needle threader should extend to or below the needle plate--this would be counter-productive as only the needle should extend that far because it should be the only machine part that would be penetrating the fabric.
