Hi Paul Matthews, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? What model cable modem? On your computer, that does the computer say the gateway address is in the network configuration?

    his base address is
10.0.0.1 (or 10.0.0.100) depends no model number not told.
set by last owner the ISP or well gee any tech on earth.,

i never use defaults for IP ,that way any breaches puts them off my path, (a rule 1 security never make it easy for bad guys)?
    and wlan no ping
and no WPS, nor PIN , no DMZ and well i have a long list.

the long push on the reset button does put it all back to day1, new settings.192,x.x.x

Looks like the IP was incorrect.

Type 192.168. 1.1 (the most common IP for Technicolor routers) in the address bar of your web browser to access the router's web-based user interface. You should see 2 text fields where you can enter a username and a password. The default username for your Technicolor router is admin.

that is not incorrect at all , it only fools him.
the base IP can be set as you want. 192xxxx or 10.x.x.x.
    per tcp/ip specs SPR.
doing so is more secure, using NON DEFAULT IP.

I need to use my telstra thomson TG782T modem on a different network how do i reconfigure it??

You need to contact your 3rd party service provider for the configuration settings for their network.
If you cannot change the settings on the Thomson modem then maybe the firmware is set to Telstra's network and cannot be changed. In this case you need to use the recommended modem suggested by your 3rd party service provider.

I want to know if i can use my netgear wndr 3300 wireless router in conjunction with the telstra 2 wire gateway

Yes, you can definately configure your WNDR3300 to work with Telestra gateway modem. Perform the below steps to reconfigure your WNDR3300 with your Telestra gateway:

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect a Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

RECONFIGURE:

1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

Hope this allows you to resolve the issue.

Regards

Anand
