If there is a boot menu you may have to load the CD drive from there and the restore disk will load. Check the boot screen when the PC is first turned on and look for restore option and which key to press. It is usually F10 or F11. If all else fails press F8 on start before the first boot screen vanishes and select the prompt option. then load the CD from there after you ID the drive letter.
Usually e-machine and other pc's have a factory restore setting set up in case of an error. You can; according to emachine tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time when the eMachines logo appears. Press "Enter" and follow the directions on the screen to recover the operating system back to factory condition. I hope that helps, if those keys don't work try F11 at the emachine logo. Good luck.
Have you try to press the F11 button ? Turn off the computer, press the "Power" button. Wait for the eMachine's computer to reach the
screen that reads "Press F11 to start recovery." Once this screen
appears, press the F11 key on the keyboard multiple times to make sure
that it registers. If the recovery screen does not come up, you will
need to turn the computer off and back on again and attempt to press the
F11 button again when the prompt appears. After doing that is only necessary to follow the steps.
You have two choices: 1) Insert your e-machine system disk and boot from it. It should ask you if you want to install Windows or repair it. Choose R for repair. Then when you get the black screen with white writing, choose your windows installation (usually #1) and then press enter when prompted for a password. When you get the c: prompt, type chkdsk /r This might fix it. If not, then try the process again and don't choose "r" but continue through the screen when it asks you to accept the Microsoft agreement by pressing F8. Then on the next screen choose to repair the existing version of Windows. It will reinstall the system files and may actually fix your problem.
